I will tell you for a fact, without SARS, living in Nigeria would be unbearable. They are the one reason why majority of Nigerians can go to bed safely without having to deal with daily armed robber attacks. Yes, they have bad ones among them but majority are doing a great job dealing with armed robbers. Its like saying you should ban the US Police or take away their guns because of a few bad eggs?

And you would be surprised to know that majority of so called criminal SARS checkpoints on rural interstate roads are actually armed robbers disguised as police or pretending to be policemen.

SARS na terror to criminal espcially those Armed Robbers.

Although, Armed robbery don decrease na kidnapping those idiots are engaged in now. They suppose create SARS for kidnappers.

Make them reform SARS and those bad eggs in SARS would be flushed out!

Bros, I agree that more needs to be done to tackle the poor security in our country. And the primary source of arms and other sophisticated equipment that are responsible for the security challenges we are seeing today in the South of the country (Armed robbery, kidnapping, and cultism) is the politicians who have been sponsoring cults gangs and militant groups for their own selfish needs. Majority of those involved in these violent crimes belong to the same cults that our politicians belong to. And Unfortunately, the full time job of these cult members is armed robbery and kidnapping when elections are over.

But please, lets not underplay the good work that SARS have done to tackle armed robbery. They are the only ones that the armed robbers fear. And though I am not proud to say it, they have eliminated (extrajudicial executions) so many dangerous armed robbers who would normally have been released by the police to go and continue their robbery. One good example is the case of those Owerri Bank robbers who were caught on CCTV.

It's true o! Since those armed robbery suspects were paraded, we have not heard anything about them again.
It's very wrong, even if they were caught red handed, they should have their day in court. I hope thise Abuja bank robbers who were caught on the scene have not been extra judicially executed.

I’ve have only learnt about this particular form of SARS recently (I know of the virus) but do they only operate in the South of the country?

How about End Police brutality tsars or no psars
And why are they caught on video engaging in everything but manning checkpoints.
Mere 2 Games being played in Austria mostly unwatched by most Nigerians isn’t equivalent to weekly NFL or daily NBA games which many Americans can’t live without so it would be a misdirection

#ENDSARS is really a campagn to stop police brutality by some SARS elements. I think most will be happy if they focus on armed robbery and stop harassing innocent citizens. #ENDSARS is a more catchy hashtag than #REFORMSARS. Government can take action against the perpetrators and rename the unit. Many appreciate the likes of Abba Kyari and what they do. My secondary school classmate from the North is in SARS and he is frustrated with the bad elements too.

Like many law enforcement institutions are not accountable to anyone including the President.

Until you run into these lawless people, you might not appreciate the need to reform them or have them be accountable to anyone.

Typical Naijarian response for those not affected... "I am good, **** the next man..."

You can still tackle insecurity without the security agents preying on the citizens.

These guys typically are not in uniform... dress and act like armed robbers. Extort people on the regular... just an extension of the regular police. Mopol on steriods.

If that’s true then SARS definitely aren’t coping, so they are unable to shut down false checkpoints but are expected to save lives, where are these robbers getting their arms from?If an armed robber unit is attacking or even harassing every day citizens it has fallen, imagine the armed unit (SWAT,TPF) in an organised country walking around the street and stopping people despite the existence of ordinary police.

Lolly can sing their praises until their activities hit an innocent relative of his. There are many innocent Nigerians murdered by SARS. Let that sink in.

I remember when a group purporting to curb armed robbery existed in the East a while back. The problem with that group and now SARS is that the killing of one innocent person is ONE TOO MANY.

SARS cannot and should not decide whether an alleged 'robber' lives or dies especially when the purported robber is not caught in robbery. To execute citizens on the road is nothing but sickening whether by SARS or not. It just should not be allowed to happen.
