RIP Joe Erico.
Copied from Twitter.
Joe Erico fondly called 'Jogo Bonito' has sadly passed away.
He was coach of NEPA FC Lagos where he introduced the tiki-tika back in the early '90s.
He was part of the coaching crew of Ahmodu Shuaibu and Stephen Keshi that qualified Nigeria for the 2002 World Cup.

Jesus didn't die so we could have religion. He died so we could have a deep, intimate, personal relationship with God.

He was "Joseph Eric" fondly called "Joe Erico" and was known (in the newspapers) as the "Apostle of Jogo Bonito".Purity wrote:Copied from Twitter.

RIP Sir
For my sceptical Nigerian Friends : Pessimism is great because you are either always right or pleasantly surprised.
Re: RIP Joe Erico.
May God bless his soul, and give his family strength to bear the loss.

The "trio" part was popularized by Suya, who's also gone.

May the Lord comfort his family.
His name hardly comes up when discussing Nigeria's top goalkeepers.

Rest In Peace -- jogo bonito apostle.
I met the guy in the first decade of this century (Not sure the year). He provided leads to several other guys (most dead now) who were vital in a book on the Eagles. Erico was a really good guy to spend time with and talk. May his soul Rest In Peace.

The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics

Mostly overshadowed by Fregene and then Essien and Okala. His appearances were, in large part, because of injury-enforced absence to Okala at the 1976 AFCON. He was really a very nice guy and may have turned into a far better coach than he was for his playing career. Really nice fellow.Kako wrote:Lolly wrote:May the Lord comfort his family.

For which he helped the team with a medal playing in all the matches, the first time Nigeria would win an AFCON medal.Enugu II wrote:Mostly overshadowed by Fregene and then Essien and Okala.
