Super Eagles Center Back Omeruo Scores 95th Winner As Leganes Beat Sadiq's
It has taken former Chelsea central defender Kenneth Omeruo eighteen games in all competitions to open his goalscoring account for the 2020-2021 season and it was a crucial goal that secured all three points for his side in a 2-1 win against Almeria in a La Liga 2 clash at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque on Wednesday evening.

Rio Olympics bronze medalist Umar Sadiq continued his fantastic season when he opened the scoring eight minutes in.

The Almeria number 9 blasted the ball into the net after a defensive slip by a Leganes player allowed him through on goal.

Borja Bastón restored parity in the 48th minute before Omeruo popped up with the winning goal with almost the last kick of the game.

The Super Eagles star was quickest to react, slotting home off the post, when an Eraso shot was blocked by an Almeria defender.

Omeruo had not scored in a league game for over a year prior to the visit of The Rojiblancos, with his last goal coming against Real Sociedad on February 2, 2020.

Following their fifteenth win of the season, Almeria, who were demoted from the top division at the end of last season, have closed the gap on leaders Mallorca to two points.

Congrats to Omeruo. :thumb:
Sadiq scored the opener and had a second goal disallowed for handball after VAR review. However, the footage isn't at all convincing and Almeira fans are convinced there is a conspiracy against Sadiq and their team.

COMMENTS
- "What refereeing. And what the hell does the VAR do ??? They send him to review the play which at no point hit Sadiq on the hand !!! SHAME"

- "Two weeks ago, they brought out two cards for SADIQ, two games without playing. The fouls were not even worth cards and today a legitimate goal of his is cancelled. Always against SADIQ."

- "LEGAL ALMERÍA GOAL CANCELLED, six minutes added, without any TIME wasting. I think that has not happened in any game for a LONG time, and as soon as LEGANÉS scores their goal, the game ends"

- "Sadiq is an honourable man!!!!"

- "THEY WILL KILL SADIQ, THEY WILL BLOW FOR PENALTIES AND WE WILL PAY WITH CARDS !!!!!!!"

- "Umar Sadiq continues to do his business, he is destined to do great things."

The good news is that both teams are in the promotion chase, as we need both players to be playing in the Primera Division next season.

I like that Sadiq and Omeruo "greeted" each other after the match.
