What are your thoughts about our return to our ancestral home?

Re: Lagos
I have my concerns but the NFF hierarchy are happy with the experiment and they are planning to give Lagos the hosting rights for future matches. They would even consider using the same stadium if the National Stadium across the road is not ready.
My main issue is distraction. Eko Hotel was like a marketplace on the day of the match. Friends, family members and fans showed up.

Waay too many distractions in Lagos. If they are going to put them there they need a different hotel and training area.Lolly wrote:I have my concerns but the NFF hierarchy are happy with the experiment and they are planning to give Lagos the hosting rights for future matches. I heard about some nightlife shenanigans too.
I dont like it.
Re: Lagos
I mentioned it to one of the senior NFF officials and his response was that “this is the most disciplined SE set of players in a very long time”. I didn’t want to tell him what I saw with my own eyes that night.Ugbowo wrote:Waay too many distractions in Lagos. If it has to be Lagos, then it must be Federal Palace Hotel. And the security must be much tighter that what currently obtains at Eko Hotel.

Re: Lagos
Lagos has always provided a lot of distractions, but we went unbeaten for 20-something years there, before Cameroon cheated their way to that 2000 ANC Finals.
What we should seriously consider, is to build a camp for all our national teams, like the French's Clairefontaine. Fans or family or friends cannot get into the compound, or if strategically located, they cant even get into the area.
I am not sure we have the foresight to do this, because I dont think its a money issue. They'd rather be spending money on hotel every time our national team plays.

Ha. Lagos na Jamboree. too much distraction and hotel to training pitch traffic na DIE!!!
Then all sorts of Olosho go infiltrate their hotels no matter the type of security.
Then nightlife would distract them especially when celebs start inviting them out for chills, clubbing and sex romps. Imagine Davido decides to host Iwobi, Aina, Ebuehi and Nacho to such events.

The stadium isn't that bad. It just needs a bit of touch up. The main issues I have are the small compound space and the closeness to residential and commercial spots. It was squeezed into very small space. You need to se the crowd that was outside the stadium that day, blocking the main access road to some parts of Surulere.1naija wrote:The most horrible stadium so far. Dark and Gloomy. They need to fix the National stadium Abuja. Thats our best stadium, period.

Not sure about Abuja being our best stadium. Uyo is probably better.1naija wrote:Lolly wrote:The stadium isn't that bad. It just needs a bit of touch up. Uyo is a good local stadium, but not international standard.Lolly wrote:Not sure about Abuja being our best stadium. Uyo is probably better.1naija wrote:Lolly wrote:The stadium isn't that bad. Is the Uyo stadium on the same level as the Abuja stadium if the Abuja stadium was frunctional?Cito wrote:Are you mixing up Uyo Stadium with Calabar?1naija wrote:Uyo is a good local stadium, but not international standard.Lolly wrote:Not sure about Abuja being our best stadium. Re: Lagos
Lagos all day long with all the 'distractions'... there is something in the 'distractions' that keeps the Super Eagles going. Any professional that can't perform to SE standard due to distractions should opt for Benin Republic. Porto Novo is quiet

Re: Lagos
Any attempt to move the Super Eagles to any area that may lead to exposure to burukutu under the guise of quietness shall be brutally resisted. If at all we consider any other venue outside of Lagos then it's going to be Liberty Stadium Ibadan, renovated or not, all na tactical advantage!
