Consistent and reliable Abia Warriors defender, Adekunle Adeleke, was among the Super Eagles squad that executed last months AFCON Qualifiers double header played against Benin Republic and Lesotho, the keenly contested games played in Porto Novo and Lagos respectively.

Initially drafted into the stand-by list, the rock solid defender who has been a super regular in the Abia warriors team was called up to hit camp after helping his Umuahia based outfit in the defeat of Katsina United.

Adekunle’s invite to camp was owing to the absence of Leganes defender, Kenneth Omeruo, from the squad, the Abia warriors defender was immediately drafted to take his place, thereby making him the 3rd home based players to grace the super eagles camp for the AFCON Qualifers.

The inclusion of Adeleke into the main list of the Super Eagles was a big news which was greeted to many heart warming comments on social media as many described the inclusion of the former Go-round defender as a welll deserving following his outstanding performances with the Imama Amapakabo tutored side.

Tho an unused sub in the two AFCON Qualifers game, Adekunle made a return and lead his club side to an exciting home win, a game the hard tackling defender showed the rare qualities that makes him outstanding.

Currently enjoying his 5days mid-season break in Lagos, soft speaking Adekunle in a chat with the Club Head of Media, Nwosu Chigozie, relished his first senior National team experience, an experience he revealed that has inspired him a great deal.

“It was all like a dream, a dream come through for me, My joy knew no bounds after i got a call from the coach to link up with the rest of the team in Lagos”

“From the warm reception on arrival and meeting with the guys already in camp, it was just a different kind of feeling. Getting to meet, interact and dine with some of the guys from top European leagues made me have a self belief that i can actually be in their level with more hard work”

“The bond in the team is commendable, their was no discrimination of any kind to the three of us who made it to camp from the Nigerian topflight league, the boat cruise to Benin Republic is one i cant get over because they made the journey fun for everyone”

“They really encouraged us and i equally got motivated that i can attain their level some day after hearing their stories of days of little begining.

“I will keep working hard to go way up the level i am today and i know one day i will have the privilege to Cap for the team, Adekunle concluded

At least there was a warm reception and good interaction.
I was beginning to doubt it from Anayo's body language but like has been said, maybe he is just a very shy person.

I feel that Iwuala story must reflect his personality. It is something he will likely overcome somewhat in the future with similar group of players. If not, it may begin to affect his on field performance.

I'm sure he'll be fine.
Victor Moses wasn't the most boisterous of individuals but did just great.
