Re: ES vs Enyimba
Enyimba down 2-0 right before half time. Setif dominating this game.
Re: ES vs Enyimba
Setif has a strangle hold on this game. Enyimba struggling to deal with the high press and retain possession.
Re: ES vs Enyimba
They played a North African trick on Enyimba for the second goal.
Re: ES vs Enyimba
3-0 now. Noble has made 2 saves or so. This game could easily be 5-0.
Re: ES vs Enyimba
Enyimba's most creative players, Anayo, Olisema, and Oladapo haven't seen enough of the ball. Setif has had much of the possession and Enyimba have struggled to string passes together and deal with Setif's pressing. Enyimba must improve playing away from home.

Re: ES vs Enyimba
They have to first get a defense, unlike other teams.
Re: ES vs Enyimba
So disappointed. Why are our homebased players so weak mentally especially away from home.

Re: ES vs Enyimba
Eyinmba must win at home to Orlando Pirates and then get something in Libya in order to make the knockout round. I know Africa is a tough terrain but damn why are Nigerian clubs so poor away from home?

Re: ES vs Enyimba
Could weather be a factor? Was interesting seeing majority of Enyimba boys in full long sleeves and gloves, while the other team were mostly wearing shirtsleeves lol.bret- hart wrote:Eyinmba must win at home to Orlando Pirates and then get something in Libya in order to make the knockout round. Bull crap! Excuses! Why doesn't the weather affect the Super Eagles? The Super Eagles have not lost away in a qualifier since 2016. Homebase fall my hand oooo!maceo4 wrote:Could weather be a factor? Re: ES vs Enyimba
Maybe because the SE are all based in Europe? Even the great Nigerian clubs sides often struggled in Nigeria due to the weather. In 1988 Iwuanyanwu suffered a 3-1 loss to FAR Rabat and then 4-0 to the same Entente Setif in the final.Adisboy wrote:Bull crap! Excuses! Why doesn't the weather affect the Super Eagles? Re: ES vs Enyimba
Was just a question based on a quick observation that one team was dressed like they were experiencing extreme winter, while the other were wearing beach gear short sleevesAdisboy wrote:Bull crap! Re: ES vs Enyimba
Yes North Africa is colder than Nigeria, but don't think the weather made that much of an impact. If they were playing snow or below zero temperatures similar to watch you see in Eastern Europe or places like Wisconsin or Chicago that would be another story.
Re: ES vs Enyimba
It has a huge impact for those living in Nigeria. If Lagos falls to 26 degrees Celsius you hear most people complaining about the cold.olu wrote:Yes North Africa is colder than Nigeria, but don't think the weather made that much of an impact. 1) Weather
2) Shoddy or difficult traveling arrangements
3) Limited time to acclimatize
4) NPFL mentality (win by force at home, sit back away)
5) Night games (not common in NPFL)
6) Unstable teams (1 year contract mentality). The Enyimba teams that made a run on the continent had some stability due to Orji Kalu (funding) and Felix Anyasi Agwu (Management).
Re: ES vs Enyimba
The Enyimba team that won in 2003 lost 6-1 to Ismaily (whom they later beat in the final) in the group stages. Enyimba k own what they need to do to progress.

Re: ES vs Enyimba
Not just a conclusion, a fact! That is the story in the NPFL and even worse on the continent. Go check the first and only time we lost to Benin Rep was away for the qualifiers for CHAN 2018. The mentality is either to draw or lose by a low margin away. They always boast of how they are going away to win but end up playing so naively. All the excuses of weather, why hasn't it affected Orlando Pirates who are unbeaten so far. We should stop making excuses and tackle the problem. Can you imagine the SE getting these type of results, Rohr would be crucified.wanaj0 wrote:What a conclusion!Adisboy wrote:So disappointed. Re: ES vs Enyimba
The comparison with Orlando Pirates and weather is clueless to say the least. Are you not aware that South Africa has temperate weather? This week Johannesburg and Algiers have similar evening weather. Imagine the SE losing its star players to Europe every few months. That is what the likes of Enyimba have to cope with.Adisboy wrote:Not just a conclusion, a fact! That is the story in the NPFL and even worse on the continent. Jesus didn't die so we could have religion. He died so we could have a deep, intimate, personal relationship with God.
Re: ES vs Enyimba
Stop the useless excuses! Weather had absolute zero impact. Even the weather is North Africa now is more conducive to playing football that in Nigeria now. They are in the spring. Let's face it, the coaching, setup, mentality are all wrong. The NPFL level is poor because of this. If we keeping using the weather as an excuse it means we have no hope and there's no point as the weather is going to be what it is year in year out.aruako1 wrote:The comparison with Orlando Pirates and weather is clueless to say the least.
