Better than nothing but I'd prefer we were playing friendlies with FIFA top ten teams.

True.
I just want a clearer picture of where we stand on the global stage.
We need to overcome those demons that haunt us any time we meet the big boys in the WC.

Was just watching Cameroon vs Espana 2000 olympics.
Kai, I was thinking to myself, where did Cameroon learn to play football?

Nigeria learned and evolved since 1994, but Cameroon is still stock in 1990

That's their problem if they don't. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
Of the top 12 FIFA ranked teams, only Belgium, Uruguay and Portugal have avoided playing the great SE in friendlies. In fact, as far as I remember, we've never played Belgium or Portugal at full NT level before.

That might answer your question. :D

Considering that many of our friendlies are held in Europe, Belgium and Portugal would have to host us and I don't think Uruguay plays many games at neutral locations in Europe. We also have to consider covid restrictions at the moment.

We've played European opposition on neutral grounds in Europe before so that shouldn't be a problem in the long term but Covid restrictions are key to everything right now.
I think there are clear advantages to playing friendlies with top ten countries more frequently. On the big stage (WC) we tend to freeze and show too much respect, so you always sense we could have done more.
We need to ''see dem finish" and that comes with familiarity.

I have checked the schedules of most European teams, and they all seem to be playing 2 friendlies before the Euro tournament. None of the teams are playing 3 friendlies.

Germany already has 2 friendlies scheduled on June 2 and 7.

Spain seems to only have 1 friendly scheduled at the moment.

Also we could consider playing a euro team that will not participate at the Euros as this would give us more flexibility in terms of dates.

Some of the decent teams would be

Serbia, Norway, Romania, Ireland

The World Cup qualifiers won’t be against any of the top 10.

Over the past decade very with the exception of pre tournament friendlies, it's not as often.
