Eagles, Coaches Lose $98,500 Match Bonuses

The Super Eagles of Nigeria who lost 1-0 to their Moroccan counterparts yesterday lost $98,500 match bonuses as a result of the defeat.
The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) had promised each of the 22-man squad $3,000, Assistant coaches Austin Eguavon, Bitrus Bawarang and Amusa Adisa were to collect $7,500 each and chief coach, Christian Chukwu would have collected $10,000 had they won yesterday's match.
But in a quick reaction, the Head Department of Finance and
Administration, Pastor Oke Olabode, said there was no cause for alarm stressing that "Nigeria will qualify at the end of the group matches".
Meanwhile, the mood in the Glass House yesterday after the loss was that of disappointment and gloom as members of staff openly lamented the loss expressing uncertainty over the team's chances in the next two matches.
While some expressed confidence that the boys would bounce back in their remaining group matches, others expressed doubts that anything positive would come out of the next encounter.
The Super Eagles lost in its first match in the 24th edition of the
African Cup of Nations Competition yesterday.
