Super Eagles ‘96 is a documentary exploring how the men's Nigerian football team came together and found success, first at the African Cup of Nations in 1994, and then the knockout stages of the World Cup in the same year. The story places an emphasis on where Nigeria was as a country in the early 90s - a fractured nation. Battling political upheaval, social instability and deep economic failures.

I’m still pissed we missed the 96 Nations Cup and the subsequent ban. That 94-96 generation were deprived of at least 1 more glorious moment.

Did anyone notice that King Kanu was conspicuously missing?
For me, that was a gaping hole in the narrative. I can’t figure out why, but they must have at least approached him.

Joseph Dosu was still quite emotional when recalling the games. Understandably.

By the way, the voice of the great commentator John Motson, who passed away a few days ago, can be heard in several of the commentaries, including the Nigeria vS Italy World Cup game.

They must have approached Kanu, esp has he has a home in London.
