The 5 new players on Afcon list??

Akor, Akpom, Nwabili, Ogbelu and Yusuf have reportedly been invited to fight for a shirt. I know its OWN but they do get it right often enough. If 50 players were listed it means pretty much every player that’s played in the SE over the last 2 yrs is on the list except these 5 players.

Tbh ONLY 5 new players on a list of 55 is VERY DISSAPOINTING.

We have a VERY LAZY COACH.

Backwards thinking as well.

There is no reason the likes of

Eletu, Akansanmioro, Nwobodo, Swedish goalkeeper are not on this list.

Eletu has done nothing, same for Nwobodo to be in the list.

I am disappointed that Tosin is not in the list…that CB and keeper position should have gone to these 5 places. Akpom is a waste of space, he will not displace anyone same for Adams to be fair

The source of the 5 new players report is owngoalnigeria, I'll take that with a pinch of salt if I were you...for a 55 man pre-AFCON shortlist, there will definitely be more than just 5 new players that will be called up.

Not surprising. 5 new players is a decent amount. Most coaches won't invite too many new players so close to the tournament. We'll see if the players listed by own goal will actually be invited.

You want youth players who aren’t even guaranteed to break into their club’s first team invited. You can’t be taken seriously. You are the perfect example of what’s wrong with Nigeria❗️

Cheers.

"Dead rubber" is not Nigerian.

Its origin is actually from the card game 'rubber bridge' where in a three-competition game one team wins once it scores 100 points or more. If that is done before completing the three competitions, the remaining one is said to be dead rubber.
is a term used in sporting parlance to describe a match in a series where the series result has already been decided by earlier matches. The dead rubber match therefore has no effect on the winner and loser of the series, other than the number of matches won and lost. The term is widely used in Davis Cup and Fed Cup tennis, as well as in international cricket and field hockey series.

Its origin is however probably from the card games, rubber bridge. For example, in Davis Cup series', each pair of competing countries play five matches (rubbers) where the winner is decided on a best-of-five basis. Where the result is known before the completion of the five matches (if one side wins three matches), the remaining match or matches are said to be dead-rubbers.

Any list without Adams, Atuolu, Tella, and Ogbu is rubbish.
