Nigeria was found out

Post by kali »

Paseiro got it totally wrong and then tried to adjust when it was too late.

I said earlier that he should have gone with a 4-3-3. A 4-3-3 would have nullified the threat of Adinkra who basically forced Aina to stay back. There were no surging runs for Aina and it isolated Chukwueze on the right. On the left I always had doubts about the wisdom of Zaidu as wing back. Good defensively but offers nothing going forward. That forced Lookman to track back looking for the ball. In the middle, Iwobi is no JJ. The Ivorians were waiting for him to turnover the ball so he played deeper than usual. He was nullified. Osihmen was isolated and restricted to chasing long balls and crosses. What a way to play the APOY. Last seasons scudetto winner.

Paseiro got it totally wrong.

His formation should have been

--- Ajayi ---- Troost ---- Omeruo --- Calvin ---

----- Aina ----- Iheanacho ----- Onyeka -----

--- Chukwueze --- Osihmen --- Lookman ---

what so with 2 hardoworkers in the middle in Onyeka and Iwobi, we still got overran. And your solution is to put Aina/iheanocho and Onyea in the middle. 2 of which are NOT midfielders.

wow

:evil: :twisted:
We never had a mid-field all through the spaces there are too much}
Peseiro had substitution issues
Our offense was never really sharp enough to be able to break our goal droughts
The Ivorian juju spell was good joker on our team too

Iwobi was minus one defending. He is no Paul Pogba when it comes to passing so what value does he add? Iheanacho started off as an attacking midfielder and imho it is his best position. Aina plays defensive back and defensive midfield.

Honestly, we had no offense. The ball was always in our end of the field. We all know when such happens, a lot of BAD things will result, especially own goals and penalties
