Nigeria’s William Troost-Ekong is the first defender/full back to score three goals in a same CAF Africa Cup of Nations edition since Opta collects this data (2010).

● William Troost-Ekong (Nigeria) and Sébastien Haller (Côte d’Ivoire) are the first players to score in both CAF semi-final and final in a same CAF Africa Cup of Nations edition since Gedo with Egypt in 2010.

Boss man! he had a heck of a tournament!!!
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.
Gary Neville: Mirror: 12/23/14

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

All hail King Ekong, the only player that played like he wanted it, he knew this would be his last chance and tried to drag the team to the cup, but one man cannot do it all by himself….

So Oliseh once told Ekong he was “too soft for African football”?

It's reasons like this I don't want any local coach near SE.

He is far from the only touted local coaches who share these kind of views.

I see all the badmouthers have gone kinda quiet on their “ajebota” and “not hungry enough” campaign.
Seems they’ve gone to regroup to find a new angle of attack. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

E no go work.

I hope Ekong becomes the substantive captain of the SE instead of the stand-in role.
He deserves it and hopefully Musa should do the honourable thing and retire from international football
I am happy

And some people said he was finished.

You can’t buy experience when it comes to central defenders. Thank God the coaches didn’t listen to the uninformed noisemakers.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

I put my hands up.
Though I didn’t say he was “finished”, but I did say he was “past it” and needed a replacement sooner rather than later.
He did us all proud and to be honest, it seems like he elevated his game for this tournament.

you also ridiculed Ajayi all over this forum, so stop pretending . ( you wanted Ajayi and Ekong out) Some of us kept on telling you calm down, the bobo has pace , never backs away from a tackle etc. For me i believe England produces top top defenders(Terry, Rio, Adams, Sol, James, Cole etc. and i think it's the mentality they have about getting stuck in , we saw it from the likes of Ola, Bassey, Ajayi and even the best defender(Captain Nigeria) in Africa got his footballing education from England.

I have to give it to you because you kept insisting on Ekong due to his experience while some of us thought he was finished at the international level
I am happy
