First, it is now possible for a player to change national team even if they have played competitively at senior level, provided:
  • the player held the nationality of their new association at the time of their first official appearance for their first national team.
  • the player played in no more than three competitive senior games before the age of 21.
  • the player has not played in the final stage of an official tournament such as the World Cup, European Championship, Copa America etc.
  • at least three years have passed since the player's last senior appearance for their previous national team.

World Cup qualification Europe:
9/5/21 Germany vs Armenia (Played for 18'minutes)
10/8/21 Germany vs Romania (Played for 1'minute)
10/11/21 North Macedonia vs Germany (Played for 29'minutes)

UEFA Nations League:
6/11/22 Hungary vs Germany (Played for 5'minutes)

UEFA Nations League game is not a FIFA competitive game. It is organized by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), which is the governing body for football in Europe. While it is a competitive tournament for European national teams, it is not directly affiliated with FIFA. UEFA Nations League is specifically a UEFA competition and falls under the jurisdiction of UEFA rather than FIFA. Hence, Karim has not played in more than three competitive senior games for Germany before the age of 21.

Based on your analysis he should be eligible to switch to Nigeria in October, just 6 months from now. I doubt he wants to go through the lengthy process of switching and if the Nff are even aware.
OCCUPY NFF!!

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if we really need him. I haven't seen enough of his performances to justify his inclusion in our team.
