20' well played affair so far woth Tunisia showing better organization than their first match, and DRC playing more of a no-nonnsense game.

28' Lua Lua almost "heights" the keeper in a solo breakaway run, but he recovers to snatch away the ball.

The problem with DRC is discipline. They lose their tops too easily and Lua Lua is a good expl.

57' (7)Mahadebi(TUN) gets a Yellow for diving, replay shows he was clearly fouled. I guess the ref is trying to cover up by feigning incompetence.

Yujam when you see the match you will see the problem is the ref. Lua Lua was victimized . I wonder if it has anything to do with Tunisia going past the first round this time.

Well, he might as well start heading back to Newcastle cos Tunisia just put in number 2; he's out of the next match which from the looks of things is likely their last in the tourney.

Lua Lua has single handledly thrown Congo out of the ANC. In the macth against Guinea he was so greedy, hogging the ball all the time and now he has got himself sent off. Wadsworth would have been wise to leave this guy at Newcastle.

Lua Lua is a ticking time bomb.

You should have heard the things he said about Senegal after their last ANC encounter. He said they weren't good enuff for the WC. Of course, he was made to look like a sore loser when Sen made the QFs of the WC!

Tunisia through to last eight

All the action from the Group A game at the African Cup of Nations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Major goalflashes and incidents (all times GMT):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1711: The referee blows his full-time whistle, and Tunisia become the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the Nations Cup. The Congolese are out of the tournament, and will be without their inspirational captain LuaLua for their final tie against Rwanda.

1710: DR Congo win a corner which is headed home but the ball had gone out of play as it arced in.

1707: The referee signals an additional three minutes of stoppage time at the end of the match.

1706: Tunisia fans revel in their team's lead, waving flags and holding up scarves, and even some of the substitutes on the Carthage Eagles bench join in the clapping.

1704: GOAL Tunisia 3-0 DR Congo
Played in neatly by Kais Ghodbhane, Santos slips the ball past the onrushing Lutaka to become the tournament's leading scorer with three goals.

1700: Herita Ilunga sets up a rare Congolese attack but Tresor Luntala's well-hit shot from 25 yards is comfortably saved by Boumnijel.

1657: Tunisia continue to force the play as they now attack the Congolese defence at will. DR Congo are minutes away from becoming the first team to go out of the 2004 Cup of Nations.

1656: Braham has a free run on goal from 45 yards out but hits his shot early from the edge of the box and Lutaka easily diverts the ball behind for another Tunisian corner.

1655: A fine cross from Braham is headed clear by Kamudimba with Santos ready to pounce behind him. Yet the corner comes to nothing.

1653: Lemerre makes his final switch as veteran Riadh Bouazizi replaces the lively Imed Mhadhebi.

1652: Braham is set free down the left and intelligently tees up Mnari on the right-hand side of the penalty area but his crisp strike is blocked by Lutaka.

1647: Tunisian keeper Ali Boumnijel looks shaky as he spills a shot from 30 yards but Nzuzi fails to fire the loose ball back on goal.

1644: Niati-Polo Nzuzi comes on for Ekakanga Masudi as DR Congo coach Mick Wadsworth makes his final switch.

1642: GOAL Tunisia 2-0 DR Congo
Trabelsi is again heavily involved in the build-up, latching onto a fine pass from Ghodhbane, to set up Santos whose acrobratic volley drops to Najeh Braham who heads home from close range. Flares light up the stadium again while the injured Tunisian Jedidi waves his crutch in celebration from the sidelines.

1641: Braham is needlessly booked for throwing the ball after the referee blows for a foul.

1638: The Congolese need a goal to stay in the tournament, and enjoy their best move of the second half as Mubiala heads into the side netting following a deep cross.

1635: Mbomboko Ngoy comes in for DR Congo in the place of Mbayo.

1633: Mhadhebi is booked for diving near the Congolese penalty area.

1631: GOAL Tunisia 1-0 DR Congo
Trabelsi delivers a good ball into the penalty area which Lukata spills to Santos who makes no mistake with a low first-time strike from 12 yards out. Red flares light up the Rades stadium as the local fans celebrate.

1630: Hagui meets Mnari's well-delivered corner at full pelt but fails to guide his header on target.

1627: Mnari sends in the first strike of the half, sweetly bending the ball just past Lukata's left-hand post from 25 yards with the Congolese keeper beaten.

1622: DR Congo restart the match. Hatem Trabelsi comes on for Tunisia.

1604: A fine spell of Tunisian possession is the last action of the first half, as the referee blows for half-time. The match has so far been notable for poor challenges and sendings-off rather than any decent footballing action.

1601: DR Congo coach Mick Wadsworth reshuffles his side by bringing on Frank Matingu for Sinda Dinzey, who had assumed the Congolese captaincy following LuaLua's sending-off. Matingu is making his debut for DR Congo, taking advantage of Fifa's rule change on nationality after having previously represented France at youth level.

1600: The assistant referee signals five minutes of stoppage time at the end of the first half.

1559: Nafti tries to volley home from just outside the Congolese penalty area but he slices his effort horribly wide.

1556: Mehdi Nafti receives a yellow card from the referee as the South African tries to calm the players down.

1555: A furious LuaLua is reluctant to leave the field after feeling the sending-off was harsh. Tunisia coach Roger Lemerre sportingly helps LuaLua off the pitch and down the tunnel back to the dressing room.

1552: Red card
LuaLua kicks Jawhar Mnari in an off-the-ball incident and is sent off after the Tunisian player reacts in particularly theatrical fashion.

1551: Karim Saidi glances a Tunisian corner wide of the post.

155: LuaLua goes on a searing run past the Tunisian defence, gets to the left-hand side of the penalty area and rolls the ball across the face of goal but no Congolese player could keep up with their skipper.

1546: DR Congo's Ekakanga Masudi gets behind the Tunisia defence but his ball into the six-yard box is headed clear. It is one of the few occasions the Congolese, wearing their dark blue shirts and yellow shirts, have got free in the area.

1545: Tunisian and Congolese drummers join forces in the stands as they support their team and create a lively atmosphere in the Rades stadium.

1543: A long punt forward finds Lua Lua who knocks the ball high over the onrushing Tunisian keeper Ali Boumnijel but then heads the dropping ball straight at the backtracking stopper.

1540: Tunisia are knocking the ball around nicely and enjoying plenty of possession.

1537: Neither side has yet to create a clear cut opportunity as the match reaches the halfway point in the first half.

1535: DR Congo win their first corner of the match following good play from Simbas captain Lomana LuaLua.

1533: Anis Ayara hits a 30-yard free-kick high and wide of the Congolese goal.

1531: Jedidi fails to run off the knock he took from Mbayo's late challenge and is substituted by Santos, who receives a loud cheer from the home fansas he comes on.

1526: DR Congo's Camille Muzinga delivers a low punch to Najeh Brameh's chest off the ball, but the referee seems to have missed the incident as he takes no action.

1525: Ghadhbane receives the second booking of the match with the match just ten minutes old.

1522: DR Congo's Kibemba Mbayo receives a deserved yellow card for catching Mohamed Jedidi very late.

1520: Imed Mhadhebi swings in a free-kick which Kais Ghodbhane heads at goal but DR Congo keeper Papy Lukata gathers the ball comfortably.

1519: The Carthage Eagles start brightly and DR Congo have yet to reach their opponents' penalty box.

1516: Tunisia force two early corners.

1514 GMT: Tunisia get the match in Tunis underway.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Team news

Tunisia are without suspended playmaker Slim Ben Achour, and so there is a place in the starting line-up for Kais Ghodhbane. Surprisingly, Santos, who scored Tunisia's winner in the opening game, does not start the game nor does Zied Jaziri, who scored the Carthage Eagles' opener.

The Democratic Republic of Congo have dropped goalkeeper Paulin Tokala following his errors in the opening game and brought in Papy Lukata in his place. Dieudonne Kalulika comes into the side at the expense of Marlin Piana.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tunisia: 1-Ali Boumnijel; 2-Khaled Badra, 3-Karim Hagui, 21-Karim Saidi, 19-Anis Ayari, 8-Mehdi Nafti, 12-Jaohar Mnari, 10-Kaies Ghodhbane, 9-Najeh Braham, 17-Mohamed Jedidi, 7-Imed Mhadhebi

Have a feeling that there is more to this dramatic loss than meets the eye. If there is any nation where officials have a history of messing up player morale its DRC.
So much for those celebratory dances we were hoping to see.
