Agali accepts Nations Cup call

Agali plays for Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga
Nigeria's Victor Agali has rescinded his decision to shun the Nations Cup and will now go to Tunisia next month.
The Schalke 04 striker agreed to feature at the continental showpiece after a meeting with top officials of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA).

"We have ironed out our differences and have agreed to work together again," said NFA secretary-general Taiwo Ogunjobi.

Ogunjobi added: "He will now join the team's training camp in Portugal on 11 January."

The tall striker had announced his retirement from international football after he was left out of Nigeria's 2002 World Cup squad despite emerging as the country's leading scorer in the qualifiers with four goals.

Officials have also convinced uncapped Inter Milan striker Obafemi Martins to be part of the Super Eagles' campaign at Tunisia 2004.

Martins, 19, has so far turned down invitations to play for his country.

Meanwhile, Nigeria's training camp in Faro, Portugal, will now be rounded up on 16 January following the non-appearance of most of the 43 players called up for pre-tournament preparations.

The camp was to have closed on 10 January with the selection of a final 22-man squad for the tournament beginning on 24 January in Tunis.
