Aghahowa jets out to Portugal this week

It has been confirmed that Super Eagles striker, Julius Aghahowa, will leave the country later this week for Faro, Portugal, to join his teammates currently gearing up for the Tunisia 2004 Nations Cup.

NFA Scribe, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, told Daily Independent yesterday that the Portuguese visa for the player was secured on Sunday night and he will flight out any time from now.

Like NFA Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, Ogunjobi regretted the alleged death threat on the Shaktar Donestk striker and noted that security agents were looking at the matter to deal with those concerned.

Daily Independent also confirmed from Aghahowa’s Lagos home that the player has been around the country and cannot say exactly yet when he would jet out of the country for the build-up for the Nations Cup.

“He has gone out with his wife and will return later to answer your questions but we don’t know when he is leaving,” a voice who refused to identify himself told our reporter in a telephone conversation yesterday.

The player has recently threatened not to be part of the Nigerian team to the Nations Cup if those threatening his life are not fished out and dealt with by security agencies. That is now thought to be in the process hence his resolve to join camp later this week.
