Algeria trim preliminary squad for Afcon

Algeria have further trimmed their preliminary squad of players for next year's African Nations Cup finals from 35 to 28, it was announced on Sunday.
Coach Rabah Saadane will make a final cut to 22 players on January 12, officials said. Algeria face Mali in a pre-Nations Cup friendly on January 15 before leaving for Sousse, where they will meet defending champions Cameroon, Egypt and Zimbabwe in Group C of the African championship which runs from January 24 to February 14:
Goalkeepers: Mohamed Benhamou (Paris Saint-Germain, France), Lounes Gaouaoui (JS Kabylie), Mohamed Hichem Mezair (USM Alger), Nassim Ouserrir (RC Kouba).
Defenders: Salim Aribi (USM Alger), Samir Beloufa (Excelsior Moeskroen, Belgium), Mohamed Fadel Brahami (Neuchatel Xamax, Switzerland), Tarek Ghoul (USM Alger), Moulay Haddou (Mouloudia Oran), Mehdi Meniri (Metz, France), Slimane Raho (JS Kabylie), Brahim Zafour (JS Kabylie), Antar Yahia (Bastia, France), Samir Zaoui (ASO Chlef).
Midfielders: Hocine Achiou (USM Alger), Karim Ghazi (USM Alger), Fodil Hadjadj (Nantes, France), Nasredine Kraouche (KAA Gent, Belgium), Maamar Mamouni (La Louviere, Belgium), Yazid Mansouri (Coventry City, England), Nacer Ouadah (Ajaccio, France).
