The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) is insisting that January 11 remains the deadline for Nigerian players in the English premier league invited to join the team in preparation towards next month's African Nations Cup.

According to NFA sources no time had the Glass House agreed to switch the closing date and insisted that the players were to report to the camp in line with a previous decision taken by them to avert a country-versus-club row over the release of players.

It was widely reported that the FA had agreed to allow the players, mostly those in the Premiership four extra days to remain with their clubs and report on January 15. This means that the nation's England-based players will have to leave immediately after their January 10 league matches.

In a related development, Seyi Olofinjana and Tijjani Babangida were the latest players to swell the Eagles Camp to 22 players presently in the team's Ria Park Hotel in Faro, Portugal. Both of them joined the team on Sunday night according to Nigeria Football Association officials.

NFA Spokesman, Mr. Samuel Kaalu disclosed that Muyiwa Lawal, Gabriel Melkpm, Osaze Odenwingie (who missed his flight) and Ikpe Ekong have also joined the camp.

Meanwhile, the team would today at 8.30 p.m. Portuguese time play another friendly match with a first division team in Algarve Regional League Luten Football Club, in Luten.

Also, the team's co-ordinator, Mr. Sumonu Bello-Osagie has also joined the team. He arrived the team's in Faro camp on Sunday.

Nigeria, winners in 1980 and 1994, are drawn with debutantes Benin Republic and former tournament champions, South Africa and Morocco in the first round group of matches.

The African Nations Cup starts in Tunisia on January 24.
