Bolton manager Sam Allardyce says he is in negotiations to sign Atletico Madrid striker Javi Moreno on loan during the January transfer window.
Moreno, 29, was in the CD Alaves side which was beaten by Liverpool in the 2001 Uefa Cup final and moved to AC Milan before returning to Spain.
"We know all about Javi and we are showing an interest in him," said Allardyce.
"But it will all come down to reaching an agreement with him and his club."
Allardyce has been searching for a forward to boost his attacking options with Brazilian Mario Jardel's move from Sporting Lisbon failing to bring goals.
