Awesu did not lose his position , like you read he left for America to further his studies. Football back then was a hobby, a stepping stone for a number of these guys. It was after he left they discovered Adokiye, as i cant recollect both of them playing at the same time or being in the team together.
Well said Oloye,

Awesu got injured and then move on during the healing process.
A lot of green eagles fan expected him back, it was a quiet moment for him, a think time thing. He could not play for shooting/ eagles, all he could do was play table tennis and watch everybody go to work in the morning and being the kind of person he was, he couldn't bear it .
Kunle Awesu got injured through a deadly tackle from Francis Imonidafe during a match between IICC and Bendel Insurance. Actually it was Imonidafe's hand work.

With the kind of SKILLS at Awesu's disposal ,he can only be NIGERIAN. Kunle 'skinny legs' Awesu was the ultimate winger.

Sir Vic
dont re write history, Awesu was not part of 1978 squad neither was Usiyen, if Usiyen was around we would have qualified for the 78 WC, Adokiye took over the left side since 1977, his first match being against Repbublic of Benin in 1977, a match we won 7-1, Awesu by then had lond left the scene. I dont even know where Baba #$% also came in, Mathematical Odegbami had taken over Baba #$%'s wing by this time.

I was going to post this cheers. Oloye, Usiyen for take us go that Wc on his own. He also lost out because he would have got a foreign contract after that WC IMHO.
Arsène Wenger at Arsenal, 1996 to 2018. I was there.
