Utaka/Ogbeche are in dark
Utaka, Ogbeche may join others on Sunday
By Olukayode Thomas
FRANCE-based duo of Batholomew Ogbeche and John Utaka are expected to arrive Faro, the Portuguese city where the Super Eagles are camped for the Nations Cup 2004 on Sunday.
The duo seemed to be in dark about the Eagles preparations for the Nations Cup. They don't know where the players are currently camped nor do they have the camp number.
NFA's scribe, Taiwo Ogunjobi who toured Europe extensively to discuss with players and Christian Chukwu who has been in Europe since, seemed not to have contracted the duo.
Ogbeche, apparently eager to notify the team handlers of his intention to arrive with Utaka on January 11 had to call Dare Esan, a journalist yesterday.
It was Esan that gave Ogbeche, Chukwu's number and that of the other officials of the Super Eagles in Portugal.
Although Utaka and Ogbeche are expected to be in camp on January 10, but the NFA had an understanding with European clubs that they will allow the players play for their respective clubs that weekend before they report in camp.
