Despite a disastrous 4-3 loss in Senegal at the weekend, NFA chairman Ibrahim Galadima has assured that Nigeria can still make it to the soccer tournament of the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.
He told www.kickoffnigeria.com: "It was really very sad that we lost in Senegal and I think part of the problem may have to do with the coaching because we conceded two goals in the first five minutes of the match. That is certainly not good enough and that was why we have decided to reorganise the team and by the AGM in Owerri this week we will announce how we hope to salvage our Olympic ticket.
"We still have two home games (Senegal and Egypt) which I believe we can win with some hard work. Our other match is away in Tunisia and we can at least get a draw there for us to book our place in the Olympics."
Galadima would, however, not speculate on whether Caf Champions League-winning coach Kadiri Ikhana will be named as the team's new coach.
"We will look at all our options and take the best decision on the way forward for Nigeria," Galadima simply said.
Nigeria have featured at the Olympic soccer finals since they won the gold at Atlanta '96.
