Ekwueme, Mohammed swell camp to 24 _ Aghahowa arrives today, Udeze tomorrow
The Super Eagles Chief Coach, Christian Chukwu has warned players who are yet to report to the Faro, Portugal camp of the team to forget doing so after today as he will shut the door firmly against them.
Chukwu told the Nigeria Football Association spokesman, Mr. Samuel Kaalu that only players in the Premiership and those who have obtained permission from either him or the Glass House would be given up to January 11 to report to camp.
He said that the team would be departing the Faro Camp on January 15 to Tunisia.
Meanwhile, Ifeanyi Ekwume and Aliu Mohammed joined the camp Sunday to swell the contingent to 24 while Julius Aghahowa is expected to join the team today, Ifeanyi Udeze tomorrow and Tijjani Babangida was being expected at the camp as at press time.
Osaze Odewenge who participated with Dream Team III in the ill-fated trip to Dakar for the Olympic qualifier against Senegal has also returned to Faro.
It is also certain that Chukwu will not be able to meet the Confederation of African Football (CAF) January 14 deadline for the submission of the names of players to participate at the 2004 African Nations Cup.
CAF over the weekend stated that any federation that failed to meet the deadline would be heavily sanctioned.
NFA had informed CAF that the final list of Super Eagles players would get to the body two days after the deadline.
However, Kaalu said yesterday the NFA still had ample time to submit its list and so there's no need to entertain fear that Nigeria would be sanctioned by CAF. Besides he also pointed out that if the need arises the association would pay the f
