GOAL! A simply stunning goal from Newcastle skipper Shearer, who holds off Desailly, before turning him and then unleashing a magical 25-yard effort that leaves Ambrosio rooted to his line.
GOAL! Ameobi scores a quite sensational equaliser, collecting a ball on his chest, turning Desailly, before rifling in an unstoppable shot past Ambrosio's outstretched left hand.

Yujam, a defender of his caliber is NOT expected to commit same mistake, over and over again.
First it was on Shola Ameobi, then Shearer..What a hell. Two goals from same type of mistake.
I thought they said experience is the best teacher?

He was just unforturnate today. The guy has achieved a lot as a player more than can be said of the racist Ron that targeted him with his racist slur. For those who don't know Desailly has won WC, Euro cup and CL not to mention French league. He still can play good or why do you think that Ranieri still play him often? 8)
With God everything is possible.

Yes, he must have stepped on Shearer, but he obviously did better.

Desailly is still the best defender out there any time any day and will always be. Yes he is losing pace as he is reaching the end of his career and this will be final run in club football and national team after Euro 2004.
Someone of his caliber still has lot to offer and if were a coach i would put him on my team anyday. The leadership qualities and experience in defence is still valuable..

Soldier of Fortune...
I'd agree with many of the things you say except that the correct tense for it is....."WAS". He WAS a great defender.MI5 wrote:Desailly is still the best defender out there any time any day and will always be. Even on his own team Gallas is already performing at a level arguable equal tor better o Desailly's best years as a defender. Remember that Desailly's peak as a player was at DM, not defender.

So Shearer turns him b4 unleashing a 25 yrd shot into the net. Big deal! This happens to the very best.
Yes, Desailly is nearing the end of his career but he can still be an asset for Chelsea.
We are talking about the present. No sane person would doubt his stature as a player before his present state of decline. As such, I can't see any unfairness here. If there is ever a good case for tired legs, this would be it.
