Larry, Mboma did not have surgery last week. He would have surgery at the end of the J-Leaque season. This is the article here.
TOKYO, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Cameroon international Patrick Mboma will undergo surgery to correct a niggling knee injury at the end of the Japanese season, Tokyo Verdy manager Osvaldo Ardiles said on Saturday.
Mboma, in his second spell in Japan, has scored 13 goals during the 2003 J-League campaign but the 33-year-old striker has been hampered by an injury to his right knee in recent weeks.
"This has been troubling him for a while now, so we just want to get him fit again and playing the way he can," Ardiles said after Verdy beat Nagoya Grampus Eight 1-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the season-ending Emperor's Cup.
Mboma, the 2000 African Footballer of the Year, had a successful spell at J-League club Gamba Osaka in 1997-1998 before going on to play in France, Italy and England.

Only two things in life are certain - death and taxes. But there is one other unpleasant certainty: criticism. No one escapes it entirely and often our careers, our emotional stability, even our happiness depends on how we react to it."By Benjamin Franklin"
