Definitely not worth 60M but easily worth 45M+ or more given some of the recent deals (mata, Luiz, etc). He's sort of like a Ramires with much better footballing ability especially shooting technique. He's an all action CM. He won't dictate pace. He's very direct in his play. If you prefer midfielders on the mold of Zidane, Yaya and Pirlo, you won't rate Pogba highly. He's not that type of midfielder.

i swear. the guy just loves drama
Martin Keown was trying to explain to him, but he kept on rabbitting on how about "it is not the technology we use in the Premiership", "blah blah blah 1966..."
He's still insisting that the 2nd goal was "very controversial"!

Yeah, I said Valbuena and Cabaye are good but I'm not worried about them creating against Honduras, I'm worried about them creating versus sides at their level, I've seen them struggle in those games when straitjacketed which is where ribery's creativity and volatility helped.

Pogba off, wise move.

Ribery is overrated      Will not be missed

I hope not, even with his absence, I still have them as possible finalists. They're very good.

Overrated? as you say. I don't think the legions of coaches and journalists who rate him highly are clueless.

In the WC, one way to assess a team is the clarity of its ideas, the flow, the movement between the lines, on the ball, off the ball...

Forget Honduras...

This French team is well put together, and they are playing without pressure...

But yes, stern tests lie ahead...

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

France is solid. No game breaker, which is interesting. But they are disciplined, working hard, and putting their egos in check. The whole is definitely greater than the sum of the parts.

Will it be enough? We'll see when they get a real test.

At this point, it seems that France is at that stage where they can possibly start to peak with every game. Not a bad place to be with an opening game win in a relatively easier group. They should move on and be fresh for the 2nd round.

Cheers, Mate
