Algeria will advance

Post by Jaidi »

The Russia-Korea match confirmed my opinion of the quality of those teams ( or lack thereof). Algeria had a plan today and almost executed it. That being said I expect them to open it up significantly against a lesser quality opponent in their second match. I expect Vahid to try a much more positive formation and give Brahimi a run, much like we saw during their pre-WC warmups. They've got the blessing of being in one of the worst groups in the tournament and I think they have enough quality to win two straight to make it out.

Spoken like a true fan. The reality is that less than one third of any team that lost the first game ended up qualifying for the second round. I'll advise you not to open your champagne bottle yet...

Only 4 teams in the history of the worldcup have ever made it out of the group stages after losing thier first game.., Algeria were not impressive, I doubt them advancing. But this is football anything can happen

Bro, it is only the first game.

All the teams will adjust from the first game.

Algeria learnt a lesson about opening up and not playing smart. They almost had a point if they did not go for the win and got caught on the counter... coupled with a player not recognizing that a dangerous counter was on and that he needed to foul them at the center circle.

I liked Algeria's display... I hope they don't abandon their tight formation for a more open play...

Advance to where? Algiers?

They are going nowhere but back to Algeria after the round

They'll need to be much more positive and expansive in their game. They really should have taken at least a point from Belgium.

I won't say they'll definitely advance, those two others will give them close games.

p. sure Jaidi is Tunisian.

Also what as YUJAM continues to denigrate North African teams and say Ghana is a better team than the US after they gave up a goal within 31 seconds. Bro you're so obvious.

I honestly believe Algeria could have grabbed a draw if it wanted it.. but it was too greedy for the counter
and ended up with no points. Anyway I wish them luck for the rest of the tournament.

:agree:

I don't like to agree with a certain Opak Yarner (Not Talking about you) on the Forum, but I think they are the most complete African Nation, not just personal-wise but also tactically. They were Unlucky against Belgium.

This!

With our defence I will be very surprised if we manage to beat Russia or South Korea. We will have to open up and in doing so we will be punished.

Also just like in South Africa, there seems to be fitness issues. The Koreans will run us to death.

Well, you should have waited until the Russia game to dig this thread up.
