Hayatou is not going anywhere like Paul Biya and Robert Mugabe he will go when he sees fit.

Till black Africans can stand before black Africans and not despise that before them for that very reason, Africa is going nowhere. Muntari is throwing punches at the management, tis little to do with Hayatou and more to do with the mess that those meddling hands made of the black man.

Charity begins at home. Not just because national associations and federations have more effect on all aspects of football than Hayatou ever will .... but also because national associations and federations are the ones who elected, and continue to reelect Hayatou.femibyte wrote:For African footie to progress, Hayatou must go !!

Unfortunately, we the fans are absent. We don't even have much influence over our local clubs. We are to be found watching EPL, and siding with EPL clubs against Sepp Blatter, though Blatter has done more to defend African interests than Hayatou.

What does Hayatou have to do with a player elbowing another? Or with players attacking members of their own federation? Is he God?

Roy Keane was sent home for indiscipline

Individuals need to look themselves in the mirror, and acknowledge their shortcomings.
Hayatou or not the nationnal football authorities and players need to understand that they are representing
their countries and not just themselves. Representing ones nation should be seen as a privilege and individuals
should display and promote a high sense of responsibility. Muntari on the field, besides his game, acts and dress
like he is playing a pickup game in his neighborhood. What with his over-sized pants dragging off his ar$e and
exposing his underwear. It's like hip-hop comes to the World Cup.
For many of the African players, self promotion beats team work and civility. And we wonder why we are not
respected even in a field where winning alone can generate a lot of goodwill.

When Africans want to improve their football, it will happen. Hayatou or no Hayatou.
First step is to improve the domestic leagues and turn them into self sustaining money making enterprises. Look at the amazing things that have happened with the MLS. That is the way to go. No short cuts.

@Cchinuk, fact remains, there is an errant lack of respect for command or authority, moreso if the skin stretched across such surfaces are blackened and indigenous. Muntari would never raise a hand to any of Milan's equivalents, tis the same old story. Put a pale face in there and how fast the yessirs will return.

Hayatou should go, but he is not the only problem.femibyte wrote:The question is, how can he be removed ??
Hayatou is not the reason Cameroonians and Ghanaians were fighting each other over money. He is not the reason CIV choked. He is not the reason national FAs are mismanaging their football.

As far as I am concerned, it's all part of the corrupt system.Eaglemaniac wrote:What does Hayatou have to do with a player elbowing another? Or with players attacking members of their own federation? Is he God?
I'm not saying the fighting players are corrupt but you cannot expect honourable behaviour in a corrupt system.

Re: For African footie to progress, Hayatou must go !!
Femibyte is right Hayatou is a corrupt dinosaur who has no idea what to do to improve African footie. The last time I heard about CAF financials which was 2 or 3 wrld cups ago, CAF had over 30 million dollars sitting in a bank account and they had no idea what to do with it. Since then the Nations cup TV rights have more than quadrupled despite the fact that it is poorly managed and marketed. There is a lot that CAF can do to improve football in Africa but it is only FIFA that is making an effort to do something, look at what UEFA does for it's members and compare that to CAF. Go to the CAF website and try to get historical information and you would almost cry, it's the most useless of all the confederations websites. The Eagle wrote:Charity begins at home. Here are some things that CAF can do.
1. Have coaching development courses from youth coaches to national team coaches and mandate that all coaches in Africa must be CAF certified for the level they are coaching. These courses should be customized to suit the African style of play not just copy and paste the styles of others.
2. Mandate that all youth players must be enrolled in school and have passing grades to be eligible to play in CAF sanctioned leagues and teams. The poor education of our players is one of the primary reasons why African teams lead the world in headless chicken players. As soon as a youth in Africa shows pro potential, his schooling is neglected by all involved and in this day and age you need cerebral players not just physical attribute players.
3. Develop youth leagues that will lead to club national, regional and African championships from ages 12 and up, sel
4, Support the development of strong regional professional leagues that will be economically viable that would pay handsome salaries to players and coaches where our players can be developed. Such a league would allow players to stay home much longer earning decent wages, allow them to develop respect for local footballing authorities and also provide a league they can come back to if things don't work out overseas. It is possible to form such leagues but I will not go into the modalities right now but it is a much better option than the home based African nations cup rubbish.
5. Have football management and operations training and development courses that every FA official must attend before becoming certified to take office in an African FA, these courses should cover FA management, professionalism and ethics.
These are just some of the things a proactive CAF can do that will have rippling effects on issues like player discipline and respect for authority, drastic reduction in headless chicken players, better trained and qualified indigenous coaches, a fertile training and proving ground for ex players who want to take up coaching and football management and can start with local clubs and youth academies. The opportunities are limitless but if you look at CAF's dossier on what it has done to develop the game in Africa it is very, very thin and most of the things they have done are half arsed, half baked and not fully developed to it's potential, they are mostly poor imitation of UEFA initiatives.

For African footy to progress, Africa must progress politically, economically and socially.

Agreed! Football is a reflection of society in general:Heliopolis wrote:For African footy to progress, Africa must progress politically, economically and socially.
- these same players who lack discipline in the national teams are very disciplined when playing for their professional clubs in Europe.
- these same players pass to team-mates in a better position to score when playing for their European clubs but shooting from impossible angles when playing for their national teams.
- the reason players are going on strike to demand their bonuses is that they know corrupt politicians will embezzle the money (which FIFA pays to FAs) after the tournament.
