Yes FIFA is currupt but you remain remorselessly stupid to see the crook that Keshi is. A man who simply traded a potential successful outing for dubious bonus sharing. What a clown.

The more widely Christianity was diffused, and the greater the number of people unprepared for it who were brought under its sway, the less it was understood, the more absolutely was its infallibility insisted on, and the less possible it became to understand the true meaning of the doctrine. You guys are making too big of a deal of the Golden Ball. Yes, we know Messi didnt deserve it but no one cares about it, not even Messi himself. If you were to ask any educated football fan who won the 2002 or 1998 golden ball (for example), most people wouldn't even remember.

Best team in the tournament wins it. Deservedly so. Argentina rope-a-doped, swung a few hooks, but by and large, lacked acumen on the front foot. Inspiration too. Higuain had no business starting, an absolutely shocking tournament, he's all but confirmed his standing as a fat pasta eating Soprano. Useless. Messi, in as much as the masses strive to paint a picture of his potency, was sterile for far too much of the tournament, strolling around, disinterested, disassociated from the toils of Zabaleta and Mascherano to name a few. Flashes in the frying pan aside, a dire display from a captain, far from leading by example, his forlorn figure more often than not, was the epitome of exactly what the players shouldn't do.

The immeasurable expanse between player and team was best typified by his wandering away from the team-talk on the eve of extra time. For a man of unparalleled ability, of worldly acclaim, of every individual honour and accolade, what more can the day bring? What treasures do its hours conceal that would have Mr Got It All exert and endeavour to acquire? This is where the true majesty of Guardiola becomes all the more clearer, he keot his wiorld beaters, those world famous demigods, motivated. Mortal. Sabella clearly failed in that regard. Coupled with the tactical reactivity of a mushroom with muscular dystrophy, the death was all but certain.

...One had argued time over, this was the worst manager in the tournament and fortunately, fate saw fit to deny him the feather for his cap. Sabella was beyond useless, relied heavily on the positonal awareness and instincts of the individual as opposed to any strategy or ploy. He failed, as was promised.

Heliopolis wrote:It was only a matter of time before Argentina's anaemic attack came back to haunt them. None of Higuain, Aguero, Palacio, Lavezzi had a good tournament. At the end of the day Argentina scored only 1 goal in their last 320 minutes of action and just 2 goals in 450 minutes in the KO-stage.

They were set up to win today and had chance after chance but no one was in form. Higuain had been abysmal all tournament and his miss was just shocking. Palacio offered absolutely nothing all tournament and his miss was embarrassing.

Messi is my favorite player on the planet but he did not have a very good tournament. I had been questioning his work rate since the beginning of the tournament and today it was no different. Was he instructed by the manager to conserve his energy or did he decide that himself? Either way, his effectiveness was limited and while he helped Argentina get this far, he could have done more. Germany did not show him a lot of respect and gave him space to operate but he could not deliver. He wasted a golden chance in the 2nd half and had other good chances. I wonder if he put too much pressure on himself, or if he didnt adequately recover from his injuries this past season because he was not in top form in Brazil. I fear we may see a drop in form from him in the coming months and years. It'll be hard for him to maintain top fitness level with his busy schedule and I wonder if he'll have the motivation within him. He has Copa America duties the next 2 summers and then WCQ the 2 years after that so the guy is bound to slip up.

Props to the Germans. They deserved to win this WC and were logical winners in a WC where no team was really exceptional. They did well to overcome to the injuries to Khedira and Kramer and though they played with fire by giving the Argentines too much space to counter-attack, I gotta give them credit for coming out and playing attacking and risk-taking football from start to finish. Lets see if this is the start of a special run by the Germans where they win 2-3 major trophies in a row.
THROUGHOUT THE TOURNAMENT YOU WERE REFERRING TO THEM AS " WE " BUT IN THIS LONG ESSAY, THEY ARE THE " ARGENTINA"

Really? Fresh air? :D
Just because Messi did not score more goals does not mean he did not play well. Rodriguez did not have 4-5 players marking him every time he touched the ball, still he could not take a very good Colombia to the final. Also, Messi was MVP in at least four of his 7 matches
Rodriguez will get the Golden Boot for scoring most goals

Kaylor Navas was also MVP/MOTM in four of his 5 matches he played in. Does that mean he also deserves the Golden Boot too? Abeg you can't rationalize dis one away.

Rodriquez has more goals and more assists and 3 MOTM awards in less games
Mueller has more goals, more assists and won the cup
Neymar has the same no of goals and assists in less games
Navas had 4 MOTM appearances in 5 games

so what exactly did Messi do over all these people to earn him the golden boot?

He was not disinterested. How can he be disinterested in a World Cup final?

After Messi was accused of being disinterested (barely running more than the goalkeeper) in the Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid, his coach at Barca told a press conference that Messi was advised to run less because of the physiological reasons that caused his string of injuries for most of last year and part of this year. The idea is for him to limit his running to certain areas of the pitch or when he has the ball rather than pressing all over the forward line as he used to do before his injury.

As for Argentina, I think it is harsh to criticize a team that reached the final of the World Cup and lost 1-0 just 6 minutes before the end of extra time. The must have dome something right. At the end of the day, the slightly better team won.

Golden ball to messi - Not deserved..
this is not the Messi folks expected.. Like someone mentioned, Messi was hardly even "Messi" up until the 2nd round game.. After that, he was blah.. pretty much Macherano and the defense took over from there IMO..

Robben, a more worthy and deserved winner IMO.. any of the Germans in Muller, Lahm, Schweiny could take it..
Lampard: 101 goals and counting.......

In how many matches was Robben MVP? How many goals did he score? How many assists did he provide? He had a great World Cup, but...

He has not recovered 100%. That is why he limits his running to certain areas and only when he has the ball.
