Barring any long-term injuries with Joel Obi and Tyrone Ebuehi, these two players are critical to SE's success since they add the much-needed depth to the team. I know the 30-man selection man is done, but my gut tells me we will regret not going with Onyekuru and Enyeama. Against this backdrop - Rohr needs to maximize the best possible talent the country has to offer and not simply go with the 23 that got us to the WC. Case in point: Pele was taken to the WC in 1958 as a 17 year-old who had just began to light up the Brazilian league, he was however considered an underdog who at best would warm the bench. He arrived in Sweden nursing a knee injury, but after two matches, the Brazilian forward star player suffered a serious injury, so Pele was thrust onto the field as a reluctant and scared sub, carrying an improving yet tender injury. The rest is history.

Ebuehi is technically better than Aina, but from the Serbian game, it's clear Ebuehi can be bullied against physical players.. and also slightly injury prone.. But it would be a tough call by Rohr to both pick Aina and Ebuehi ahead of a fit Echiejile..

Watching Junior Lokosa's goals and off the ball movement in the NPFL, you quickly understand that Rohr just invited him as the token HB choice. For his goals, Lokosa is given ages to tuck the ball into the net. DRC alone will not give him the kind of opportunities he gets in the NPFL, not to talk about world stage. Junior Lokosa still has a loooooooooooong way to go to be international class.

You may be right! Tyrone and Joel Obi may make the cut but I think Rohr is big on loyalty hence Joel is out. Additionally, Joel was played outta position in the friendlies due to Mikel Obi absence!

Rohr will also recognize that we need more cover on the left back position than right back hence Idowu over Tyrone!

I don’t have any hope in Mrs Ighalo and Nigeria will struggle to score if he leads the attack. He is a very limited player ,his weakness are as follows: misses too many chances before he scores,not very good in the air, not fast so cannot keep up with the fast break, cannot create a chance out of nothing, has only one dribble move, doesn’t read the offside trap, shooting with either foot often off target. Has not mastered the technique for keeping the ball low when shooting.... needs a lot of practice.Doesnt know when to give the ball to the open man during attacks. Often ball hogs, poor movement in the box so always marked,
Doesn’t appear to be on the same wave length as his team mates but generally just a very average footballer who happens to be in the team because of a shortage of clinical strikers. It will be interesting to see where he will be after the World Cup if he stinks for Nigeria during the tournament he will most likely remain in China. I share your views about Odion Ighalo. We must respect him for his goals though (his opener in Uyo against Cameroon was key) but I am not sure he is a sure banker at seeking and taking chances. In the qualifiers we were lucky that the likes of Moses, Iwobi, Simon and Kele weighed in on the goals. I am quietly keeping my fingers crossed on Simy Nwankwo coming through the friendlies to possibly upstage Odion. That arrowhead position in my opinion is very much up for grabs.

You are very right indeed, i also very much hope simmy is the real deal becaue we need to take our chances and ighlo is not the person you can really rely on.

Moses Simon will go to the World Cup. Simon is a goal threat and free kick specialist. Rohr will not drop him. Lokossa is only for show.

Just reviewing the stats frrom our qualification and it reads as follows: Zambia 1 Nigeria 2 goals Iwobi & Nacho,Nigeria. 3 Algeria 1 goals Moses and Mikel, Nigeria 4 Cameroon 0 goals Ighalo,Mikel,Moses, Nacho, Nigeria 1 Cameroon 1 goal SMoses, Nigeria 1 Zambia 0 goal Iwobi, Algeria 1 Nigeria 1 Ogu. Reveals the Ighalo a striker is tied on goals scored with Ogu having score only 1 goal throughout the whole campaign. Even SMoses has scored more goals having scored in the pre World Cup qualifying series under Oliseh. Based on these stats the most despensable player (forward/striker) should be the one that scored the lest????
