Argentina - Iceland: Iceland Pre Match

Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

Argentina to play Iceland with 2 Midfielders.

Icelandic coach does not believe it reflects their team, but Argentina's own strategy.

They (Iceland) believe that their organization has been key for them and for their Nordic neighbours.

Set Pieces will be a concern. They are very good in set pieces.

It seems Iceland will not man-mark Messi, going by the Coach's response.

They believe the Euro Tournament has given them the experience to play any team.

But at the same time, they feel no pressure and are underdogs

Getting out of the group is their immediate target.

Aron Gunnarsson (Their captain) has been struggling for fitness, he believes he is ready, but he might not be selected.

They are not riding a 'high', they believe they have been consistent for 4 years and their qualification is not a surprise.

Afterall they topped their WC Group. They believe they will maximize their strengths and understand their weaknesses.

___

So this is not going to be a team that buckles in front of Nigeria, they will come out to play their compact game.

The Icelandic team will execute set-pieces against all teams in the group as it is their strength.

Irrespective of the physicality of their opponents.

I watched the first half. Argentina was better individually and the goal was an essentially and individual effort. Their defense was shaky at times, and the icelanders equalized.
