Ominous for Big Dave, the Baggies have dropped off in recent weeks and may well have rested laurels on the playoffs. Big gamble, Sheffield Utd, assuming they don't go up via the automatic route (likely to do so), will be red-hot favourites for the playoffs. If the Baggies fail in their attempt to return, its likely Dave will be dispensed.

Bottom of the first page. Wilder, true to his name with not a moments hesitation when the fight’s called. Wilder has sent the Blades out swinging, 3-5-2 with overlapping wide centrebacks and a dense midfield block. Brilliant and worthy of analysis in the tactics thread without doubt.

I just had this shared re: the blades and their back 3.

Biggest game in football this season, Leeds vs Sheff Utd, two of the most tactically tantalising teams in the business going hammer and tong. Behold the brilliance of March, not an ide to beware. Bielsa, Wilder, no need for a Joshua or Deontay for that matter. Pistols at high noon, guns? Derringers, bullets aplenty. The championship; the one true contest stirs up another classic. Elland Road, up north and no better place for it. Stallions saddled up to gallop hell for leather. Blood and honour? Not ‘arf.

Bielsa’s boys slewed by Blades.

Looks like Cerebro is going to have to do it three the hard way #theplayoffs

I never understood the hype surrounding Bielsa. He's obviously a tactical wizard but the purpose of being tactical is to win, not to impress readers of zonalmarking.net

The guy has won very little in his career. He had one of the best Argentine sides ever and after smoking everyone in qualifiers saw them crash out spectacularly in the 2002 WC. All 3 opponents in that WC played the same against Argentina and he couldn't adjust. He did pretty well with Chile at the 2010 but they did even better after he left. In between those spells and ever since he has been a journeyman who quickly wears out his welcome. Remember this guy has never won a trophy in Europe in 5+ seasons.

Leeds are wheezing to the finish line, Norwich will win and the Wildlings might take second. If it goes down to the playoffs, Leeds likely to come a cropper.

Unrelated, but what a goal by Messi. Even the Betis fans are applauding...

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

If Leeds can hold serve, there’ll be some corkers next season...afters and some.

The Canaries, wings flapping rhythmically like the divine derrière of Serena Williams OBE (not at all), in full stride returning serve. Bielsa’s challenge for honours, fading like a distant memory in the midst of Alzheimer’s. Away at St Andrews, must win, by order of the Peeky Blinders. Down early doors. In the bleak midwinter.

smh, Leeds slipped up and the Blades didn't fortunately WBA did too. At this point I think it's between WBA and the Blades to join Norwich with the automatic spot.

All world’s espionage won’t spare Bielsa the ignominy of the bended knee. Ever has a mountain’s incline been so acute, crest so distant, summit so insurmountable as the Championship. The colosseums of Ancient Rome bow in reverence to the truest colossus. If not through automatic promotion, the long overdue return of the Yorkshire rose to bloom will prove once more a chimera, a figment of the most flamboyant imagination, for there is no labyrinth like the playoffs, minotaurs and medussae. It is over. Almost.

Roofe’s injury was massive, Banford has scored a few but his uni-dimensional style, takes much away from the front press and speed in attack. As much as one would relish the sight of the dirty Northern b*stards, back in the Big Time, they’ve lost form at the most crucial stage. Pistols at dawn, they’ll go down faster than Billy Clanton at the OK Corrall.
