AFCON: GUINEA 2 vs MADAGASCAR 2

Post by Gotti »

The second game in our group...

Guinea led 1-0 at half-time...
Madagascar came back in the 2H to take the lead 2-1...
And then Guinea drew level at 2-2 with about 10 mins left.

Either Guinea is not as good as advertized...
Or Madagascar is even better than thought.

I would suggest the latter. They looked a very decent side.

Both sides quite average. Madagascar played to their full potential IMO. Guinea underachieved. I think the weakness of either side is their defense

some people think we have birthright to win against "minnows"

Well I am glad we beat Burundi today by one goal, and not in Guinea's position.

This tournament fully deserves 24 teams.

Well done CAF.

Both teams played an open game and frankly I thought both teams were just okay. If they play an open game with us we will finish them especially Madagascar. Guinea really had no business losing the game today. They had so many chances to put the game away even after they came back to tie it via a PK.

So you just discovered that it is not our birth right to win against minnows? You were not saying this when Amodu and Keshi were getting water out of the rock! You did not remember this when you were wishing death on coaches who did not best minnows with tge narhins you want?

I was actually impressed with Madagascar, didn't show a bit of nerves even for debutants.

I think the bottom teams have improved quite a bit since Amodu's days. Anyways in retrospect I think people were unfair to Amodu. Losing to Senegal is certainly no reason to fire somebody.

Keshi was corrupt and injecting junk after junk into the team and ignoring better players. That was my beef with him.

In all fairness, Van City is a lot more balanced in his views than he once was. I suspect he had woman issues which have now been solved.
