Nigerian-Irish prodigy Micheal Oluwadurotimi Obafemi Scores in the First half for Southampton as they secured a valuable Three points away to chelsea in the premier league.

The 19 years old striker opened the scoring for his side in the 31st minute slotting in the ball into the net with an assist from teammate Pierre Hojberg.

He was later substituted in the 69th minute of the game for former Liverpool Player Danny Wings. Southampton continued to mount the pressure as they look to compile to the Miseries of Frank Lampard and his young side. Their pressure soon paid off as Nathan Redmond Doubled Southampton's lead in the 73rd Minute with an Assist from Teammate Stuart Armstrong.

Obafemi is Ineligible to feature for the Super eagles after making his senior international debut for Northern Ireland in 2018 with just one appearance to his name. He has featured for the European side at Junior levels,U19 and U21 scoring 1 goal in 5 Appearances.

The Game Against Chelsea ended in favour of the travelling side as they secured an all important 2-0 win which proves to be vital in their quest to survive relegation. The Saints currently sits 14th in the log with 21 points from 19 games. Meanwhile, London side Chelsea sits 4th in the log with 32 points from 19 games in what seems to be a battle for champions league qualification as the title race could be over for them.

Obafemi was eligible to represent England, Nigeria, and the Republic of Ireland.[9] However, in November 2018 he committed to the Republic of Ireland.[10]

Obafemi has represented the Republic of Ireland at under-19 level, debuting during the 2019 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualification campaign.[11]

On 6 November 2018, Obafemi was named in the senior Republic of Ireland squad for the first time for the friendly against Northern Ireland on 15 November and the UEFA Nations League match against Denmark on 19 November 2018.[12][13] He came on as a substitute in the second half of the 0–0 draw against Denmark to make his debut.[14] He also became the first player born in the 2000s to win a senior cap for Ireland.[15] Obafemi made his debut for the Republic of Ireland under-21 team on the 10 October 2019, coming off the bench and impressing fans and media alike, in a 0–0 draw with Italy under-21's at Tallaght Stadium.[16]
