Chelsea enter race to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey

English Premier League side Chelsea are reportedly prepared to pay the 50 million euro release clause for the services of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, Football Ghana reported.

Partey has been at the centre of transfer rumours linking him to several clubs across the world, following his performances this season.

Chelsea are believed to be keen to join the rapid to sign the 26-year-old as they see him as the right fit to boost the squad going forward.

The Ghana international's contract expires in June 2023 and it is yet to be seen which club he will land up despite previously stating that he would like to retire in Spain.

This dude has opened 4 threads on the same player, a thread for each rumor on any new club. This is a flagrant case of wastage on this site, and all these threads should be merged or deleted. Doesn't make any sense, and makes the site look like it has no standards.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is interesting Liverpool, according to reports.

Spanish outlet Cadena Sar published a report over the weekend claiming the powerful midfielder was a summer target for Premier League clubs.

They claim Partey is available for £43m this summer – due to his release clause which Atletico have been desperate to remove. The source claim the LaLiga club have been looking to get Partey to sign a new contract, so they can significantly raise his buy-out.

Partey though remains under terms of the deal he signed in March 2018, which expires in June 2023.

It’s worth noting that the article claims two Premier League teams are leading the chase, but the piece claims: “Our source has not yet authorized us to say that two clubs are.”

The Liverpool Echo though report “both the Reds and Manchester United are both interested in activating his release clause” and cite reports in Spain.

The 26-year-old certainly impressed against Liverpool in the Champions League last month, and his versatility could make him a desirable option for Jurgen Klopp.

The Ghana international can play as a deeper holding midfielder, a central defender or at right-back, but whether Klopp’s interest is real is debatable.

The African who dribbles better than Lionel Messi

Arsenal reportedly want £45m ace who dribbles better than Lionel Messi

Reported Arsenal target Thomas Partey currently boasts a higher successful dribble percentage than Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

The Ghana international has been linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid.

According to 90Min, Arsenal are among the favourites to sign Partey who has a rather modest £45 million release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract.

Partey has yet to put-to-paper on a new deal, despite Atleti’s intentions.

Arsenal have the opportunity to take advantage, and his dribbling stats this season only gives the Gunners further reason to try and secure a deal.

As shown by Opta Stats, Partey boasts an 81.8% successful take-on record – the highest in La Liga this season and more than Lionel Messi.

Partey has been superb this season. He has made 21 starts and three substitute appearances in La Liga for Atletico in 2019-20, scoring two goals in the process.

The 26-year-old also played a key role in helping Atleti defeat Premier League leaders Liverpool 4-2 over two legs in the Champions League knockout phase.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen their midfield. Boss Mikel Arteta will likely lose Dani Ceballos, while Granit Xhaka remains an unconvincing figure.

The Covid-19 suspension may have halted football matches, but Arsenal may now use this time to look ahead to the upcoming transfer window.

Partey has been linked with several European sides ahead of the summer transfer window.

English giants Arsenal are reported to have made concrete offer for the Atlético Madrid midfielder after impressing manager Mikel Arteta.

According to Calciomercato.com, Juventus winger Douglas Costa is on Diego Simeone’s radar at Atlético Madrid and may well be a potential transfer pawn as the Bianconeri are said to be keen in swapping him with Partey.

Costa is on the market this summer, having struggled to overcome injury problems and his lack of a real tactical position within Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

Juventus are believed to rate Douglas Costa at €50 million on the transfer market.

Atlético: Thomas Partey is wanted by the best clubs in Europe, says Simeone

Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is good enough to play for "the best teams in Europe", according to coach Diego Simeone. Thomas has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League with Arsenal after eight years in the Spanish capital, where he first featured for Atleti's youth and reserve teams. Simeone can see why such a transfer would appeal to the London club and several other European giants, even if Thomas is still searching for consistency.

Atleti's Thomas in demand
"Thomas is the one who best understands this position and the transition from defence to attack, shooting, scoring, providing assists and playing passes between the lines," El Cholo told reporters ahead of Atleti's game against Osasana. "When he's at his best level consistently, he's so good that all the best teams in Europe are looking at him."

João Félix was one of the most sought-after young talents this time last year, but his first season at Atleti has not gone entirely to plan. A €126million signing from Benfica, the Portuguese has scored just four times in LaLiga and did not feature in the weekend draw with Athletic Club due to a knee problem.

Arsenal hopes fading after cheeky Thomas Partey approach made

Arsenal’s hopes of signing Thomas Partey are fading after Atletico Madrid signalled their intent to tie him to an extended deal, according to a report.

Reports over the past few months have linked the Gunners with a move for the Ghanaian.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to revamp his midfield ahead of his first full season in charge.

Indeed, Atletico boss Diego Simeone admitted last month that the “best clubs” in Europe are after Partey.

“When he’s at his best level consistently, he’s so good that all the best teams in Europe are looking at him,” Simeone said.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio journalist Matteo Moretto, Arsenal have increased their interest.

The reporter claims (via Twitter) the Gunners have contacted Atletico, however, there is a key stumbling block. Arsenal are unwilling to offer the £50million price tag Atletico have set for their star player.

Arsenal will operate on a reduced budget in the upcoming transfer window due to the financial effects of the pandemic.

What’s more, Diario AS claimed in March that Atletico are confident of tying the 27-year-old down to a new deal.

Partey has three years left on his deal in the Spanish capital, having renewed terms in 2018

Partey ‘set to sign new Atletico deal’

Thomas Partey is reportedly set to sign a new contract with Atletico Madrid in a huge blow for Arsenal.

Partey is reportedly Mikel Arteta’s top summer transfer target as he looks to bolster his midfield, and it was thought he might be available in a cut price deal.

But according to GhanaSoccerNet, Partey will instead sign a new £135,000-per-week contract at the Wanda Metropolitano – which will see him double his wages.
