What's with the half information? Does he have a name?

Leicester City boss Rodgers pleased to see Amartey score in first game after two years

he Ghana international put in a good performance after a very lengthy spell on the sidelines
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers was thrilled to have Daniel Amartey back in the Foxes fold in Saturday’s 1-1 friendly draw with Blackburn Rovers, with the Ghanaian midfielder scoring on the occasion.

The 25-year-old has been out with an ankle injury for nearly two years, last playing in a 1-1 draw at home to West Ham United on October 27, 2018.

Amartey did make attempts for a comeback, first being an unused substitute in a third-round 4-0 EFL Cup victory at Luton Town on September 24, 2019, before getting involved with the reserves in December.

He was, however, not able to make any first-team appearances for the 2019-20 season which Leicester finished in fifth place after holding onto third place for much of the campaign.

He gave the Foxes the lead in Saturday’s friendly in the 67th minute before Derrick Williams equalised for Blackburn eight minutes from time.

“They're a team that will be up challenging in the Championship next season. It was always going be a really good test for us, but I'm pleased for the likes of Daniel Amartey coming back, in his first game in a long time,” Rodgers said on the club website.

Rodgers stated he was pleased with the performances of his players which was a mix of regular first-team players and young players on the fringes. One player who did not play in his usual spot was Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi. He was deployed as a centre-back for the game instead of defensive midfield.

“Again, it's more minutes in the legs for our senior players and established first-team players, and for some of our young players, a chance for them to come in and play with a little bit of pressure, even though it's pre-season, and feel a tempo and intensity at this level,” Rodgers continued.

“I think before the end of the window shuts, it will be an opportunity for a number of them to get out and get games because they need to play if they're going to improve under pressure. If they're not going to be here, that is.

Amartey: Leicester City boss Rodgers going careful with fit-again Ghana defender

The Foxes boss talks about the way forward for the 25-year-old following his return to the pitch ahead of Sunday's Premier League opener
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers wants the club to tread cautiously in re-introducing fit-again defender Daniel Amartey to Premier League action.

On the sidelines since suffering an ankle injury against West Ham United in October 2018, the Ghana international made a massive step on his road to regaining full fitness with 45 minutes of action in a friendly fixture against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, capping his return with his side's goal in the 1-1 draw.

Leicester are set to play as guests to West Bromwich Albion in their 2020-21 league opener on Sunday.

"James [Maddison] and Fuchsy [Christian Fuchs] have been training this week, so that’s good news. It’ll be brilliant to see them back on the pitch," Rodgers told pressmen in his team news ahead of Sunday's fixture, his club's official website reports.

"Dan Amartey has just come back in. He played 45 minutes of the friendly game last weekend. It’s been nearly two years since his last game, so you always have to be careful when a player’s been out for such a long time, but he’s progressing well.

"Wes [Morgan] has rejoined the training group today. We have another 24 hours to assess them all. Ricardo is still a number of weeks away but he’s making good progress.”

Amartey signed for Leicester from Danish side FC Copenhagen in January 2016, helping The Foxes win the Premier League title that season.

During the January transfer window, Amartey was linked to Fulham, Newcastle United and Sheffield United.

To show you just how much faith Rogers has in Amartey, he’s considering using Ndidi in central defense. So much for the second coming  ❗️

Cheers.

Fulham launch bid to sign Leicester City midfielder - report

Fulham are trying to lure Leicester City midfielder Daniel Amartey to Craven Cottage according to a report.

Football Insider claim the Cottagers have approached the Foxes about the availability of the Ghanaian who, it is claimed, could leave the King Power for £5m.

Amartey has struggled to feature in Brendan Rodgers' first-team plans, a problem not helped by injuries.

Fulham boss Scott Parker is said to be an admirer of the defensive midfielder and tried unsuccessfully to land him during the January window.

But they are now determined to get Amartey at the second time of asking with the player having two years remaining on his current deal.

Amartey, who signed for the club for £6m from FC Copenhagen four years ago, did feature for Leicester in pre-season in a friendly draw against Blackburn Rovers but has not played in a competitive game under boss Brendan Rodgers.

Playing well so far and in partnership with Castagne, have controlled City's left flank so far.

But on the right, Justin and Barnes, have to be in combination the most stupid footballers on the planet!
Form is temporary; Class is Permanent!
Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

Imagine Amartey & Salisu (Southampton) in Ghana's defence. No goal for Naija

Solid in defence in Leicester 5-2 victory against man City

To come back in such a big game after nearly 2 whole years out and play like that is no mean feat.
