Bristol Rovers manager Joey Barton has been charged with assault by beating after a woman suffered a head injury.

The former Premier League and England footballer is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court in south-west London on Monday.

The Metropolitan Police said the charge against the 38-year-old relates to an alleged incident at a residential property in Kew, south-west London, on June 2.

He was arrested the same day, bailed pending further inquiries and has now been charged.

The London Ambulance Service did not attend the scene.

Barton, who played for a number of teams including Manchester City, Newcastle and Burnley, will attend court on bail.

This isn't the first time this knucklehead has been charged with assault. He needs to meet the right person when he is in one of his assaulting moods!

True talk my brother. Danger to society.

That Joey should be managed before he inflicts his demons on someone and that person ends up dead.

He has another case pending where he assaulted a fellow coach of a small club. The guy is german and the case was postponed at trial to allow the German guy to return to the UK and testify

That guy should have been locked up in a home, he attacked his fellow player, I have forgotten the name, almost took his eye balls out. He will kill someone one day and. they will start looking for who to blame.

Not to forget after he was at QPR in the last game of the season against Man City and he got sent off. The little rodent started provoking all the Man City players, instead of leaving the pitch immediately, just to see if he could get one of them sent off as well.

Not all there, hopefully will seek some help.
