Aaron Wan Bissaka

Post by wiseone »

AWB has been out injured for 8 weeks, returned to the team and played out of at LB so he could mark the best winger in the world. Yet despite that he kept Salah in his pocket. Let us not forget his prior amazing performances against Mbappe and Neymar in the Champions League, and he also put Leroy Sane in his pocket too.

Vinicius is the best winger in the world.

Uncle Lockdown. AWB has previous for such exploits. One on one, a tough proposition for any winger. Recall Zaha mentioning this in an interview once upon a time.

Quite a lockdown; Salah only scored once...
Form is temporary; Class is Permanent!
Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

Indeed he did, but that takes nothing away from his performance. Salah wasn’t as imperial as usual, returning from injury rustiness and Uncle Lockdown. Combined.

Coach: it was January 2023. Crystal Palace v Manchester United with the score 1-1. Zaha ran clean through on goal in the 94th minute. This is what AWB did:

Zaha said that as soon as he realised it was AWB chasing him he said to himself “Oh my God! It’s Aaron. He is the only one that can do that scoop tackle”- because he knew AWB was the only player who could dispossess him from such a seemingly impossible situation.
