We all know what party leaked this to the press. this was supposed to be a private discussion between player and Manager, but it is now in the press. Why?

The way Sterling has been treated by the Liverpool people is just wrong.

its Brendan Rodgers.

I have noticed many times that he doesn't hesitate to throw his players under the bus soon as things don't go well, saw him do that to Mario and also Lambert and others.
He is quite a snide character and not a very honorable man,

I think the sheikhs leaked the story to cause more kata-kata amongst the Anfield mob to demand his instant sale :taunt:

Who's losing here?

Liverpool still hold all the aces in this saga.

Anyone notice Sterling's agent has suddenly retreated from his gra-gra?

Lately Sterling says problem is he doesn't want to play under Rodgers. You gotta ask: Is Sterling a Messi who dictates choice of coach for a club?

Don't like Rodgers, but Sterling is still acting like a spoiled brat...

Who leaked the initial discussion between player and Manager. Going back a few months, Sterling refused to sign the contract offered to him, then it suddenly came out in the press that he refused a contract worth so and so per week. Who leaked this story?

From this moment, things have gone wrong. Today we hear Sterling has said he sees Rodgers as his problem and he does not want to play for him. Arsenal had Cesc who went on strike, but it never came to at the time it happened, it only came out after he was gone.

It was revealed in the BBC interview, by no less a person than Raheem himself, that he rejected a 100k contract!

Prior to that, all BR had said was that he had been offered 'a very handsome contract'.....

You should at the very least get the basic facts right...

Cesc case is far different. This is a case of a young player being misled by a obnoxious agent, (and an entourage )who has offered him something in the region of a 40% share.

I have zero issue with him wanting to leave, neither do I have with LFC seeking the maximum payout from his sale...

Just get ur facts straight...

And the issue of him turning on Rogers given everything the man has done to develop his career is frankly distasteful...

I have my facts rights, Sterling responded in kind by going to the BBC. A private discussion about a contract between player and Manager goes public. Why?

Why did Rodgers say thing like:
"The club has offered an incredible deal for a young player,"

"[But] if they get too much, too young then it really sabotages their development."

"It is very important for young players, not just Raheem, that they have something to strive for.
"If they are given sound advice they will see that. It is about mapping out the career of a player. It is not just about this deal.
"In Raheem's case, we believe this will be the best place for him and I believe he knows that as well.

Meanwhile you have this:
--------------------------------
Analysis - BBC football correspondent Ben Smith:
"Liverpool's first offer of £70,000 a week was more than double the 20-year-old forward's current salary, and they have now increased that offer significantly.
"While sums of £80,000, £90,000 or £100,000 a week represent a jaw-dropping amount of money to most people, Sterling is the club's top scorer this season and creator of the most chances. Captain Steven Gerrard earns around £150,000 per week, while Glen Johnson is on more than £110,000, and neither can claim to have been anywhere near as influential as Sterling this season."
--------------------------------

Rodgers adds:

"I have spoken to Raheem a number of times and he is very happy here and I think you see that in his game."

"What he has been granted here is an opportunity - we see it with lots of young players - and they get rewarded for that," Rodgers said.

"But we are certainly not a club who are going to give out way, way above what a player is worth at a certain time in a career.
"It is not a case of giving any player what they want."

Rodgers was a capital f00l. No Manager of substance comes out with all the rubbish above especially when you are not in a position of strength in such negotiation. However, etiquette demands silence and respect during negotiations. Rodgers said far more than he needed to and we now know it upset the player and his agent. Indeed, clever Managers only disclose they are in negotiations with the player and no details. But Rodgers seemed to want to bully the player by revealing too much, this antagonised the player because it started a PR war, which in turn started a campaign by the Liverpool mafia on player in the media who shamelessly tried to bully the kid.

The whole saga has been badly handled by the club, now you have a player who wants out and does not give a damn. This could have been avoided by a clever sensitive, wise Coach.

If Rodgers said those things, then it is disappointing.

They should not have been made public either.

Mapping? Really? Especially when it comes to negotiation?

I sense that too.

We shall see how this ends. Do you see a scenario where Raheem can return to Liverpool? Can this wound be healed?

Now you are starting to clutch at straws!!!

Saying 'the club has offered an incredible deal for a young player' is a general statement; sufficiently general not to reveal the details of a private negotiation. No amount was stated, no timeline was stated.

That is A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE from going to BBC and stating that u rejected a 100k contract.

The details as revealed by BBC's Ben Smith come from Raheem's interview, even though I notice u have made no distinction between Roger's interview and Raheem's...

That is where the process of revealing private info all started....

Get ur facts right!

BTW u should be careful how u throw words like bully around. I see u have gone back to your WaffiLeaks ways :rotf:
