You deserve what you negotiate! Good for him. Make all the haters go mud! If waste pipes like Caroll and lambert can get big money moves for doing squat, Raheem go and get your pay!

I'm having a hard time figuring out where to classify Liverpool businesswise.

Yet again they have shown an uncanny ability to do turn a huge profit by extorting an astronomical fee for a low investment eg. Torres, Suarez, now Sterling etc.

But then again they turn around and squander the money on slugs eg. Babbel, Carroll, Lallana etc.

One step forward, two steps back.

Liverpool don't have any business ability, they've just been lucky. City needed Sterling more than Liverpool wanted to get rid, nothing more, nothing less.

Good business. Raheem is a talent, but are City the stage? Wouldn't be at all surprised if attentions were turned towards other English talents. City have swept through their own ranks, culling the homegrown quota like a megalomaniac with a supersized bottle of Domestos and extra large marigolds. Rodwell, Boyata, Richards, Gudetti, Milner, Sinclair, if not mistaken, all qualified as homegrown, teat raised. Barkley, Stones would constitute too lofty outlays, Delph made sense from the quota point of view, they'll scour through the foliage of English half decents for a few box tickers.

Tactically, where does Sterling take them? Arguably played his best football as a quasi-number 10, tip of the diamond, in behind a front two. Big season for City, they need fresh ideas and evolution, interesting acquisition without doubt, surely the curtain caller for Navas, but for friendly alliance. Ineffectual and near useless. City need much more than Sterling and haven't strengthened their cause, rather consolidated. Fullback, central defence, central midfield. Decent signing and less than Di Maria. Bonus.

As for Liverpool, one word, Berahino.

49m for Sterling?
Gotta hand it to JW Henry & his gang.
These guys from Boston sure know how to play hardball.

Liverpool must be rubbing their hands in glee.

Those guys at Etihad must be freaking nuts...

Put this in perspective: ManU just acquired Schweinsteiger for 14m...

^Untried, untested, the pace of the Premiership, the blood, the thunder, is something Bastian knows nothing of, nor anything about. Battle scarred, but never once been to war, real war, Glenny Whelans, Johnny Walters. Sterling could be seven or so seasons, with good health and fitness, eight or nine, at peak performance, in which case, its a decent deal. That said, Liverpool have still pulled a blinder, City dont look like the type to Ryan Giggs anyone.

get off the shika/weed pipe dude.
That amount of money at such a young age is going to ruin the dude, many like him have gone before...
Rodwell, Sinclair ended up as busts as city.

Jermaine Pennant. Similar profile to Sterling in terms of drama. Remember him ?
Hope City has large supplies of laughing gas, coz they're gonna need it.

Bastian's never plied the premiership, but he's won stuff. Big stuff. The ultimate stuff.
And over 10 yrs football-brain...
Fact is Bastian is proven talent.

Sterling's won zilch. Even his health & fitness is on potential, which may not pan out.
City's latest move screams desperation, which Liverpool has milked.

Put Bastian & Sterling on the same market for their current sales figures, and I'll take Bastian all day long...

Raheem Sterling is leaving Liverpool but his recent behaviour should be a warning sign to Manchester City
Manchester City have £49m bid for Liverpool's Raheem Sterling accepted
Sterling has angled for a move and has skipped training and a tour
Manuel Pellegrini has placed faith in Sterling but should not expect it back

We understand why Raheem Sterling has left Liverpool. He wants an upgrade: in the standard of his team-mates, the potential for achievement, quite probably in salary, too. So, yes, we get it. What is harder to fathom is why Manchester City have been so determined to sign him.
Do they think Sterling will change, simply by swapping a red shirt for sky blue? What leads Manchester City to think he will treat their club with any more respect than Liverpool, if circumstances change?
Sterling’s behaviour in recent weeks should be a warning sign. Having put up with Carlos Tevez taking a mid-season sabbatical, why would they wish to go through that turmoil again?

Carlos Tevez fell out with Roberto Mancini in 2011 after being left on the bench against Bayern Munich
Liverpool and Manchester City are not so different, really. Liverpool have not won the title in the modern era, and the optimism that followed the 2013-14 season was short-lived.
Manchester City have won the Premier League twice and are now established as Champions League regulars, but they do not sit easily among Europe’s aristocracy.
The third tier of English football is an all too recent memory, and the giants of Spain, Bayern Munich, even two or three clubs in England would all be considered bigger.
Even a brief spell in the wilderness of the Europa League would make City undesirable. Imagine if they finished seventh, like Manchester United. They would have none of United’s historic pull to get them back on their feet.

City’s future is presumed to be all glory and Pep Guardiola, but what if it isn’t? What if it goes a little flat or needs time? Is Sterling the patient sort? We know the answer to that one. He didn’t wait around to see if Liverpool’s next swing at revamping the team post-Luis Suarez was a success, so he probably wouldn’t wait at City, either.
In recent weeks, Sterling has as good as downed tools. He has called in sick and refused to travel on the club tour. He hasn’t gone as far as Tevez, who returned to South America after a disagreement with Roberto Mancini, but isn’t far short. And those days were a nightmare for City.

The Argentine striker was made to train alone at Carrington when he finally returned to the club

Sterling didn't wait around to see if Brendan Rodgers (left) could reshape the team, so will he at City?

Each morning executives discussed the club’s position in a conference call. They considered how to handle the latest bulletins from Argentina, how to make certain Tevez and his advisors had no claim to breach of contract. Everything was done by the book. It was exhausting and time consuming — and one imagines a similar process went on at Liverpool over the last week, too.
Why would City then risk importing more aggravation — and at such a high price? Tevez was a proven goalscorer who had succeeded at some of the world’s best clubs. Before and after the fall-out in 2011, he was a fine performer for City.
Sterling? He had an outstanding first season and was inconsistent the next. Having to compensate for the loss of Suarez, plus Daniel Sturridge to injury, and the failure of Mario Balotelli, did not help — but Liverpool having held out for £49m, that is still a big gamble on City’s part.
There is a reason that City ended up the only game in town. They might have had competition from Chelsea, or even Manchester United, at £30m — so extracting an additional £19m from Manchester City is good business.
Tevez was a proven goalscorer and was a fine performer for City before and after the fall-out of 2011

Sterling is an expensive gamble for City - Liverpool did well to extract an extra £19m out of the club
And, again, we ask...

Michael Owen is adamant that Sterling can be adequately replaced by Liverpool and he is arguably right. It is what losing him represents, more than the immediate impact, that is a worry — plus the fear Liverpool will use the cash to make more ‘smart, sustainable’ signings, instead of a marquee acquisition to replace like for like. For if Liverpool fans wonder why it is suddenly impossible to keep their best players, look no further than the words of chief executive Ian Ayre, speaking to The Manager magazine.
It was Ayre who talked of players as ‘cost items’ and of buying in a ‘smart, sustainable way’. Decoded this means that Liverpool, like Tottenham Hotspur, buy with one eye on long-term market value.
They are not about to splash £15m on 30-year-old Bastian Schweinsteiger, for instance. Yet if Liverpool buy with an eye on resale, they cannot be surprised if Sterling also plays the market.
It is easy to portray him as a money-grabber but, as Ayre makes clear, Liverpool are quite keen on the stuff, too.
Even so, there are ways of saying goodbye and Sterling has endeared himself to few in recent weeks.
City, however, remained faithful. Just so long as they do not expect the same in return.

POLICE in Manchester have warned football managers to be vigilant following a daring swindle yesterday.

The swindler, going by the name of ‘Brenda’ and described as short, in his early 40s and almost supernaturally self-confident is thought to have swindled an elderly Chilean in Manchester.

A police spokesman said: “The victim was told he was buying £49m worth of quality goods but on closer inspection it appeared to be a Shaun Wright-Phillips knock-off with no guarantee.

“It’s particularly distressing that this was a vulnerable older gent who just two years ago was cheated out of £25m for a worthless Jovetic.

“There seems to be a rash of these crimes at the moment – down the road at Old Trafford a Dutch pensioner asked us for advice on buying what appears to be German goods five years past its sell-by date.”

The motive for Sunday’s robbery is thought to be malicious as well as financial, with the main suspect previously involved in a Balotelli deal that went badly wrong. The police have warned the public not to approach him as he’s believed to be carrying a Lovren.

Other managers have been advised to mark their players with a UV pen and photograph them wearing the club shirt, to prevent them falling into the hands of Aidy Ward.

Logan said: “Sunday’s victim is trying to make the best of things but all too often such goods are sold off two years later for a massive loss. Usually to Harry Redknapp.

^^^Bastian has been a smooth operator and if able to roll back the years, United could have something close to vintage, back from retirement Paul Scholes. Will be interesting to see how Van Gaal approaches the new season, does he go back to his 3-5-2 farce? Or return to his roots? That said, 15m for a fading powerhouse could go one of two ways, deep-lying, Bastian alongside Alonso lacked pace, perhaps thats where Morgan comes in...and Herrera? Carrick? Blind? Interesting times at United, more so from the up for sale context. Returning to Raheem, 49m is a ridiculous fee, substantiated, City would say, by age, youthfulness and potential. Surprised by the outlay, surely, had they been a little less desperate, they'd have knocked 15 or more off the price-tag.

Nobody knows what the future holds for City and Sterling and there is absolutely nothing to go on except peoples gut feelings    Is Raheem overprized. Yes. But so is every other english player out there. But to say he will bomb or that City "are buying trouble" is just rubbish. He has done whats been done by so many other players before him. All this hating on Raheem na wa oh. He is one of the best one vs one players and dribblers in the league, and on par with other ball jugglers like Cazorla, Sanchez, Hazard and Wilshere.

I know some people don't like him for various reasons but he is a very dangerous addition to City who have won the league every other year

A multi pronged attack of Aguero, Sterling, Lil Merlin and Toure is too be feared sha ..... hmmm na siddon look mode with this one
