You heard the sound of a merry bell

Lost and made a spot of cash
He who gave the game away
May he Brynn in hell and rue the day

Unfortunately, Sittard have lost three games on the bounce since the resumption of the 2nd half of season. They lost 2-0 away to FC Volendam. I really hope Oliseh turns it around after a quite brilliant first half to the season. I continue to watch and wait for him to turn it around!Go oliseh!

Am baffled about the sharp downturn in Sittard's fortunes since they made it to the play-offs. They have now lost 4 on the trot...1 at home, three away.niyi wrote:something has definitely gone bad at Fortuna Sittard

They better do something quick and don't mess-up my joy . I heard some Forumers are already eating their PIES and are on "self imposed" exile. I want those people to remain in exile a little longerEclipse wrote:Am baffled about the sharp downturn in Sittard's fortunes since they made it to the play-offs. Man management (anger management) issues again! My guess, is that this was festering for a while and bad results gave them the opportunity to strike.

Anyone who knows Oliseh won't be surprised at these outcome, brilliant individual but very erratic in his man management skill, I wish him all the best and hopes he bounces back from this.

The reality is that in coaching everyone gets sacked after a while, no matter how good you are perceived to be or the results you obtained in the past. It is always about your most recent result.
For Oliseh, he has shown that he can coach. That much was not quite clear, previously, because of where he was and then his very short stint with Nigeria. With this club, there is no doubt now that he certainly can coach.
The issue is the other aspects critical to managing people. Hopefully, in the next opportunity, he can take someone along who is an alter ego who can help to check the negative side that is now being built up as part of his resume and being watched by the next would-be employers.

The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics

Managing people and getting along can't be overemphasized. He has fellow coaches (people he's superior to) and club management (his superiors)... rumours are that he fell out with people on both sides.Enugu II wrote:The reality is that in coaching everyone gets sacked after a while, no matter how good you are perceived to be or the results you obtained in the past. But coaching is a thankless job. 8 wins on the trot and everyone is just happy, 4 games lost and the coach is fired right away. It's a lesson to move up when possible, the concept of loyalty is stupid in a cut-throath environment like football.

Dutch club Fortuna Sittard suspends former Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh
Netherlands' second tier side Fortuna Sittard have suspended former Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh for what it calls "unacceptable actions".
The club statement said that he has been put on "non-active" duties, stopping short of saying he has been sacked.
"Several attempts by the club to encourage a change in the coach's behaviour have unfortunately not worked, resulting in an unworkable situation," the statement said.
"The board of Fortuna Sittard emphasizes that the decision to suspend Sunday Oliseh is not motivated by the current sporting performance."
"The coach's unacceptable actions have made cooperation between many people within the organization impossible - from players to employees.
"Fortuna Sittard regrets the decision, but states that the club interest goes above all else."
Oliseh, who has confirmed his suspension on social media, was appointed as Sittard coach in late December 2016.
Sittard finished 17th in the 20-team league at the end of last season but are currently third in the table and are five points behind leader NEC.
With eight wins and just one loss earlier this season the club actually won what is called the "second period" of the league, which is made up of four periods.
The club play in the Eerste Divisie, which is the professional league below the Eredivisie, Holland's topflight, and it consists of 20 clubs.
The Eerste Divisie champions gain automatic promotion to the Eredivisie, while eight clubs made up of the period champions and the other best-ranked teams, will compete in play-offs for two further promotion places.
