Re: What's going on with Iwobi...
Iwobi was very good and played just as good as any Arsenal player on the field in that game. He was involved with the only goal Arsenal scored and never lost balls so I am not sure what else he is supposed to do given how the entire has been playing.
On the contrary, I think Iwobi has actually played his way to a regular starter in the SE like Victor Moses and Mikel, as opposed to when he was coming off the bench. As far as I am concerned the only confirmed starters in the SE today are Mikel, Ndidi, Victor Moses, Iwobi, Balogun and Ekong!

Re: What's going on with Iwobi...
That’s just not true, he lost two balls in dangerous areas, one each half, first half he was double teamed in his half hesistated to play a quick pass then had to rush to clear but his clearance was blocked and they countered into the box and luckily Cech saved a low shot (see video) There was a second one in the second half when Arseanal was pushing for an equalizer and everybody was up he lost the ball you can see the counter at minute 2:16 of the video, after which he was promptly subbed.1naija wrote:Iwobi was very good and played just as good as any Arsenal player on the field in that game. Any of the other ones eligible for SE? If no SE was playing I wouldn’t bother watching such a useless team as Arseanal...1naija wrote:Do you have minute by minute analysis of the other 10 players performance also?maceo4 wrote:That’s just not true, he lost two balls in dangerous areas, one each half, first half he was double teamed in his half hesistated to play a quick pass then had to rush to clear but his clearance was blocked and they countered into the box and luckily Cech saved a low shot (see video) There was a second one in the second half when Arseanal was pushing for an equalizer and everybody was up he lost the ball you can see the counter at minute 2:16 of the video, after which he was promptly subbed.1naija wrote:Iwobi was very good and played just as good as any Arsenal player on the field in that game. Its been years since Wenger has successfully developed and nutured young talent. Where is Theo Walcott? Abeg let Wenger just sunset and let this boy stand on his 2 feet with a better coach, or move on to another league if necessary,

Arsenal were set up very wrong before he lost the ball.maceo4 wrote:Very true, but hopefully he’s a different player for the SE. Cuz his uselessness at club level is almost unbearable to watch, and worst thing in this game he added a bad habit of losing the ball in dangerous areas. He better not try that nonsense with SE. I’ve said it before, the likes of Iwobi would not even sniff the bench of any top 4 team in any of the top leagues. Y’all keep praying for Arsene to be out but our boy will likely suffer the most if that happens as Wenger has taken a liking to him.Skylolo wrote:I don’t expect to be popular for saying this, but Iwobi has been poor for months now. Even when Arsenal were playing well earlier in the season....Tobi17 wrote:Guys something isn't right with our boy Iwobi, part of me feels his confidence has been shattered to a point where he might need someone of good authority like JJ to give him a pep talk. I watched him today against Brighton, and my God he was shocking, I know the entire Arsenal team is in shambles at the moment, but there has been absolutely no redeeming quality in Iwobis game for quite some time now... Arsenal fans pretty much conclude he isnt just good enough, but I boldly denounce that cause the Iwobi that turned up for Nigeria when it mattered most can't just be dismissed as not good enough, that Nigeria is in the world cup is because of his crucial goal against a Zambian team that had us on the back rope of fear. I think he needs a loan move from the toxic system in Arsenal and rediscover his form, could care less if he goes to a championship level team, we really need him in top gear form cause he is one of our most important players right now as much as we won't admit it... I'm surprised nobody talks about our players situation, all I see here are threads about EPL teams that are inconsequential to the growth of Nigerian football, just sad.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

I told Waffi this a few weeks ago and he gave a passionate and myopic defence of Iwobi's performances - saying Arsenal are singling him because he chose Nigeria over England.

Re: What's going on with Iwobi...
Arsenal as a whole are poor so a younger player like Iwobi is likely to be affected.

For me, it’s more about staying football fit first, then anything else na bonus. Moses at CFC has been subpar compared to last season but I know that for the SE he’s got a different role, more freedom and more responsibility. I’m not sweating. Even their new additions seem to be a shadow of themselves.

It's important he (and all of our players) get games under their belt and I'd take that over them being stuck on the bench. Ideally they'd also be in good form running up the tournament.green4life wrote:For me, it’s more about staying football fit first, then anything else na bonus. Re: What's going on with Iwobi...
Basically, his money skills need serious improvement.
Like every thing in life. If you want to compete at a high level, work on your money skills.
Pick 3 of them, work on them day and night until you master them. then consistently try to use them in your job setting (on the pitch).
At times he shows flashes of dribbling skills. But, once in a blue moon, honestly.
I don't remember anything he did today that would separate him from the other players. Did he shoot? did he take on his man? did he create for other?
The fact that Arsenal is in shambles today should represent an opportunity for him to differentiate himself and shine. That is how he should think.
Other players are refusing to perform. Competition (Walcott, The Ox) has been offloaded. The path is clear. This is his time. He needs to take it.

The boy is doing ok,he even have issue with Wenger as Wenger don't want him do things he wanted.
Please no Arsenal player is playing better than him,if likes of Ozil that has been worst than Iwobi and guarantee starter for Germany ,Iwobi if he was white will even be the one telling voach who to play along him.
The boy is fine,as for those who want Wenger stay I hope you all see how his foolish ways can affect any good players

Iwobi is being played out of position ( both at Arsenal and for SE) as a wide player .... he is a #10. While he might have flashes on the wing he is still very inconsistent because it’s not a position that fits him the best ... if he can’t get that at Arsenal he needs to go somewhere else where his game can flourish at that position

I like the way our players positions evolve based on their performance. When Kanu's Juju man was making him score from every tight corner on the pitch for Arsenal he was a top striker. When he refused to pay his juju man and the goals dried out he became a support striker.
When Iwobi was scoring back and forth for Arsenal and Nigeria he was played in the right position, now he is played out of position.
Ideye was once a striker, now he is a holding forward at Malaga ...i.e holding for another striker to come and score.

So if I’m AI’s family and agent, the sooner they find a club and a decent coach willing to use him in the proper way the better ... his football life should begin and end at Arsenal.
He has far too much talent and ability to be playing the way he currently is
