England Manager Gareth Soughgate's 23 for Russia. The 3 keepers only have 9 caps between them all. This is very unlike England. Soughgate obviously believes that chemistry matters more than experience judging by England's victories at U17 and U20. The days of established names representing England for years and years seems to have come to an end.

Dele Alli will end up being his playmaker.
Lingard will start over dele...

with that said, this team will be home before the post cards.

Jessie Lingard is not a playmaker!
well he played that so-called role for them in their last match.

Same way you said Osaze is not a striker, you want to start another prolem for yourself.

Lingard plays as a number 10 for Man United. I will agree with you if you say Lingard is a horrible playmaker. Because he is. But to say he is not one is inaccurate

So happy for Young, an embodiment of what can happen when you put your head down, work hard and listen to your coach. It`s the reason why successive coaches have kept him at Man Utd, even when he struggled and the entire stadium booed him. He just goes back, works hard and give all on the pitch hoping it`s good enough and it is! Feel Smalling is a miss though, but since this is a 23 man squad, perhaps he just didn`t make it and the coaches looked elsewhere. When selected, he usually starts and played a lot of games this season. Even gave indestructible Bailly one or two things to think about.

The idea of Jack Wilshere being a playmaker extraordinaire is as flawed as an open plan kitchen with freshly laid laminate. The suggestion of said Jack being country’s best, calls into question the reliability of any further contributions from the poster. The one question Southgate has to answer wrt the midfield, was Jonjo Shelvey. A question he chose to avoid, hedging his bets on the points already bagged.

@Fela, Bertrand should’ve gotten the nod ahead of Young. Yes, Ashley’s reinvented himself as a right-footed left back, a bootleg Dennis Irwin perhaps, but he’s benefited from association more than anything else. Bertrand has been consistent and sound and is certainly the better of the two. If both were in plying their trade at the foot of the table, it wouldn’t have been close. Good luck to Young, if Southgate has any sense, Delph will be his deputy for Rose and Young will just be old.

I dont expect much from England. Forget the 'easiness' of the group

The Betrand who fought relegation? Did you watch Bertrand and Southhampton last season? Or you are just remembering the Betrand from last season?

Even Danny Rose IMHO. I believe people are selecting him based on his past performance pre-his video outburst/injury. Rose has not been up to his usual top performance pre-2017. I am hoping it is just injury but Rose has seriously regressed.

Again, appointment by association. Ashley Young is no left back and if called upon, will be exposed. Knockaert’s issuing of salad should’ve been enough of a wake up call for Southgate, instead he indulged the mirage. Hopefully Rose will need to sit out a few, there are few sights more spectacular than seeing a good ol’ fashioned roasting. There’s something all the more proper when the recipient is old.

How did Danny Welbeck make it?Is it that they must select at worst 1 player from each top club?

Ross Barkley’s only accomplishment this season was a low fade with a level two on top.

He played vs Newcastle, last weekend. If you want to call that "played"
