Yes it was ridiculous. He moved his foot to direct the ball

...a well executed over head kick, and on target, will always beat a goalie.
Had to do with a combination of misdirection and psychology effect on the goalie that it won't go in, reason why they hardly dive or attempt to.

Regardless of that first give away, no goalie would have saved it. It was totally unexpected and it would be unfair to blame Karius for it.

we all have seen better kicks; i would rate this one about average

If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true."

Exactly, the occasion itself gave it leverage, usually people are cagey in a final, but that daring kick was risky yet effective...if he had missed it, we wont have talked much about it..goes to show how important it was at that time of the game, turned out to be the winning goal

Ramos and RM are experts at the dark arts.
I'm not against these shenanigans, but the officials should have prepared for, and spotted them.

As it were, the fans were robbed of a very good player which is never good for the game.

Karius should have stayed down and taken his time (I don't remember if he did).

...that's why I think the guy will be a marked player by the refs at the world cup. Champions league final was big game watched by many, including referees around the world.

@Mcal, they can watch Ramos all they like, that unseen will remain unseen. One does not reach the man in high castle, without knowing how to conceal a weapon. Field Marshall Ramos is one of the best to have ever donned the armoury and taken to the field. The dark arts will remain on exhibition in the deepest opacities, unseen to the naked eye and applauded in retrospect for their guile and brilliance.

Expressing yourself freely while under pressure.

Many players can make a bicycle kick better than Mboma's when they have nothing to lose.
But few would dare do what Bale did in a high profile cup final.

I'm sure you will not be applauding any 'dark art' if it is applied to your team.
You can imagine what this sort of shenanigan adds to the spirit of sportsmanship.

He should have been a marked guy at the UCL final.
So I'm not holding out hope for the more diverse WC officials to do so.

This is pure cheating. I can't wait to see Spain beaten and eliminated from the WC. The crowning of the cake will be to see Ramos red carded.

...true, some refs are too carried away with other things, like other 21 players
