2018 World Cup: Alex Iwobi speaks on Super Eagles readiness ahead of Nigeria, Croatia clash
Published on June 12, 2018 By Don Silas

Arsenal star, Alex Iwobi has commented on Super Eagles readiness ahead of their 2018 World Cup opener against Croatia on Saturday in Russia.

With less than five days to the team’s first Group D game against Zlatko Dalić’s men, Iwobi said Gernot Rohr’s side are ready as the tournament gets closer.

The 22-year-old, however, believes the three times African champions have a strong chance to qualify from their group.

“We’re ready! As it gets closer, the excitement is growing,” Iwobi told Allnigeriasoccer.

“However,at the same time,we’re still very focused and working extremely hard to make sure we’re well prepared and stand a strong chance of progressing well through the tournament.”

This guy needs grow up and do it fast. Time is ticking on him.

If he wants to be a star then he needs to show it. I haven't seen it yet and it's frustrating!

guest83,

While I often refuse to comment on this particular player, I feel it necessary to do so now. I had not felt that Alex was growing into a star on the SE until his last set of consecutive games that stretch back to his coming on as a substitute in the Zambian game. Since then, he has been largely consistent among Nigeria's best players. If that is not growing into one of Nigeria's star then I do not know who else is doing that growing.

This is the problem with you. You are all mental midgets.

Don't ever come here and talk about winning the WC and things like this. Because you are all just full of sh1t.

I sincerely believe he is the best player Nigeria has right now. Honestly I wish Iheanacho has developed 10 percent of his growth. He could have been phenomenal player by now.

He's been increasingly stepping up and demanding more responsibility game on game .... whether as a starter or off the bench (the 2 Zambia games are classic exhibits). I'm not sure what you're looking for with all due respect my brother.

YOU DON'T BECOME A STAR ON SCHEDULE OR JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT TO...

...otherwise, we'd all be stars.

I think Iwobi has already scored more goals than JJ did at the same stage of his international career, and this without the benefit of playing in the Nations Cup.

Please how many 22 years olds, are challenging for Wpoy. People love reading, their nonsense thoughts online, sha. This is a genuine kid, trying to discover himself. I hope he leaves the comfort of Arsenal, and move to a club, where he can blossom without the pressure he seems to be playing under.
Iwobi has time, and has shown, he has the talent. At his age, it’s consistency you should be focusing on, and how best to deploy his talent. Not yarning opaks.
"Nigeria", Africas only true hope of bringing the World cup home to motherland.

Yes. Spot on.

If only he was at Wembley to hear the SE fans serenade Alex Iwobi, then he will no doubt know how much of a star he has become.

You know, I don't think Iwobi has gotten his due for his world class goal against Argentina. The way he took out most of the Argentinaian defence with his first touch, then the nutmeg and finish. That is pure talent and class, it makes you a star.

We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.

I think Spain’s by far the best league.
