Serie B update. Okereke, Simy, Sadiq, Kingsley Michael

Post by Paveman »

Okereke grabbed a goal in a vital 3-2 victory for his Spezia team. They are now in the playoff places having leapfrogged Kingsley Michael and Umar sadiq's Perugia who could only manage a 1-1 away draw with fellow playoff contenders Pescara. Sadiq played the full 90 mins while Kingsley was taken off after 54 mins.

Simy Nwankwo played the full 90 mins for his Crotone but halted his hot scoring streak as his team played out a goalless draw against Cremonese.

Okereke, Dennis, Osimhen, Uzoho & of course Awaziem should be players from the Libya trashing U-23 team that should make the AFCON team.

Ahead of who? People just like suggesting nonsense. Infact, only 1/2 of the players you listed deserves to make our 2:

Another goal from Okereke. Boy is on fire and playing very well. I think he will be in the Serie A next season.
Simy also had a decent game as his side won 4-1 away.

According to tuttomercatoweb, Fiorentina are the latest club to show interest in signing Okereke in the summer transfer window.

A mid-week full Serie B programme:

Okereke had 2 assists as his team Spezia held promotion contenders Palermo 2-2 in Palermo. A very good result for Spezia. Okereke is really one of the shining stars in Serie B this season (10 goals & 10 assists). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdDhUSmVc-s

Simy got the only crucial goal in his team's Crotone 1-0 nil victory against 4th placed Benevento. Simy has bagged 13 Serie B goals this season and is on fire at the moment. He has been quietly consistent this year too.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRMWp9r2B7E

Umar Sadiq got another 90 minutes for his club Perugia in a disappointing 0 - 0 home draw against Cittadella. Kingsley Michael has fallen out of favour in recent weeks and was not even in the matchday squad despite being called up for the game.

Both Perugia and Cittadella are now 1 point out of play-off zone, just one point behind Okereke's Spezia. With two games to go, play-off places are wide-open with only Palermo and Benevento assured of a play-off place while 6 clubs (including Spezia and Perugia) battle it out for the remaining 4 places.
Simy's Crotone are now almost safe following today's crucial win, as they are 5 points away from relegation play-out places. Brescia and Lecce will be playing in Serie A next year.

Imagine African champions with a tier 2 player as captain and multiple tier 2 players in the line-up.
Not good for the continent

Rawlings, none of these players will make it to Egypt. They are prospects for the future.

Okereke and Kingsley Michael should be in the mix if Rohr is serious.

After all we have plenty of SE players and even SE starters playing in second divisions and even sub standard leagues.

Mikel - English 2nd tier
Etebo- English 2nd tier
Ajayi- English 2nd tier
Collins- German 2nd tier
Uzoho- Cyprus league
Ogu- Israeli league
Onuachu - Denmark league
Musa - Saudi league
Ighalo- Chinese league

there is absolutely no reason that Okereke and Kinglsey Michael should not be considered for SE just because they play Serie B. In fact they are playing at a higher level than some of the above players, and are better than some of the current options we are using at their positions.

Gochino, you are right (simy is 27 next week). Sadiq is 22, Okereke 21 and Michael 19.
Simy can still come in handy as he is the one with enough experience to be drafted in to the SE squad if required.

Vancity,

I don't think they are quite ready for a big competition at ANC level. Okereke's position is very crowded at the moment, and he has no international experience. Barring injuries, I would draft him in immediately after the ANC, especially if he moves into a bigger, better team. Kingsley Michael is still a kid without high level experience, or a good consistent run of form, so he should be playing with the age-grade national teams.

Another goal and assist for Simy today. Boy is on fire. I am wondering if he could sneak in again into ANC squad. If Rohr decides to go for a 'big striker' he is in pole position I think and will get the nod before Onuachi.

Okereke's Spezia lost today but have sneaked into the playoffs. Okereke is still not 100% fit again, and came in from the bench.
Sadiq and Michael's Perugia just missed the playoffs by one point....

Kingsley Michael and Sadiq Umar's Perugia have been promoted to the Serie B play offs after Palermo were relegated for financial infractions.
It remains to be seen whether Perugia will recall Michael from the Nigerian U20 WC squad for the play offs.

The lower leagues in Italy have had so many problems lately. Financially most clubs are in big trouble causing them to cut corners. This year the Serie C season was delayed and around 7 clubs were relegated.

Lucky for Perugia although I cannot see them getting through the play offs. Will keep you updated.

Okereke's Spezia were eliminated from the promotion play-offs yesterday and their dream to get to Serie A is now over. They were favourites and playing home, but they lost 2 - 1 to Cittadella.
Okereke played the full 90 minutes.

Today, it's Perugia's turn, away against Verona. Umar Sadiq will probably start. Kingsley Michael will probably come in off the bench.
