Chukwueze Finally Dumps Flying Eagles’ W/Cup For Super Eagles’ AFCON
12 May 9, 2019 11:29 am
Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze will not be included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2019 FIFA U -20 World Cup in Poland, Completesports.com reports.
Chukwueze, 19, is among the overseas-based players listed for the competition by Flying Eagles head coach Paul Aigbogun , but the player appeared not too keen to feature in Poland.
Instead, he is looking to represent Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt after impressing on his debut in the friendly encounter against the Cranes of Uganda last year.
His Spanish club, Villarreal, have made it known that the former U17 World Cup winner will only be allowed to take part in one of the two competitions.
Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr stated earlier this week that he was still in a dilemma on whether to include the youngster in his AFCON squad or allow him feature at the U-20 World Cup.
Media Officer of the Flying Eagles, Andrew Randa has however put the matter to rest by stating Chukwueze won’t be part of the Flying Eagles squad to the U-20 World Cup which will start later this month in Poland.
“Point of correction. Chukwueze specifically requested to be invited for the U20’s. He wasn’t in the mix originally. I can also confirm to you that he won’t be in Poland. Cheers,” Randa stated in response to a follower on his Twitter handle.
Chukwueze has enjoyed an impressive debut season with Villarreal since breaking into the club’s first team. He has scored eight goals in 37 appearances across all competitions.

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.
We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

Very good decision if this turns out to be accurate.

We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

Re: Chukwueze Finally Dumps Flying Eagles’ W/Cup For SE/AFCO
The question is, is he guaranteed to make the SE team? He has only played one friendly game for the SE, right? No competitive games. Maybe he thought the U20 world cup would be good for his CV. If the AFCON comes along and he doesn't make the 23 man team, will he regret missing that opportunity?metalalloy wrote:EMIR KONGI JAFFI JOFFA wrote:The boy get sense.More like sense has been talked into him.Media Officer of the Flying Eagles, Andrew Randa has however put the matter to rest by stating Chukwueze won’t be part of the Flying Eagles squad to the U-20 World Cup which will start later this month in Poland.

Barring injury, I cant see any scenario where he doesn't make the SE team.

KPOM. He will make the squad, barring injury. However, playing minutes is another question altogether.

he should have gone to U20 WC. Rohr is resistant to change

He will not make SE, Messi and the other best played U20, he should have played for the U20s

Good choice and great judgement on his part. He should be in the final 23 for the AFCON.

Good decision
If Rohr refuses to take him to Afcon, he should use the summer to rest and prepare for next season. He is a young man, there will be more Afcons to play in. Take care of his club career first.

On current form this season based on league rankings/ performance he is our best WINGER but ROhR is a loyal person. Therefore, I won’t be surprised seeing chukwueze omitted for MOSES SIMON (sad) if that happens.

Chukwueze will make the AFCON team as a wide midfield player. Simon or Kalu will be the other wide player on the left while the other makes it as a wingback. Ebuehi will not be in the team. Furthermore, Musa will be counted as a striker and not a wide player. Re: Chukwueze Finally Dumps Flying Eagles’ W/Cup For SE/AFCO
That’s fact that flies over Nigerian heads. I already pointed out that Britain’s best youngsters played in the lastU20 World Cup and what they do? They won the darned tournament. Our unwarranted arrogance often leads us to believe that where the likes of Messi weren’t too good for U20 football, Chukwueze is and that kind of arrogance is what’s killing Nigerian footballosita wrote:He will not make SE, Messi and the other best played U20, he should have played for the U20s
Cheers.
Re: Chukwueze Finally Dumps Flying Eagles’ W/Cup For SE/AFCO
How can you say “our unwanted arrogance” when chukwueze was SE best winger based on league ranking/rating/performance. Do you realize that chukwueze had a better season than iwobi, simon Moses, kalu and even to certain extent Onyekuru (league ranking) if he is indeed SE best winger this season, the normal procedure is to invite him to SE and not some youth football which end goal is to make SE
Re: Chukwueze Finally Dumps Flying Eagles’ W/Cup For SE/AFCO
Have you really see the team that qualified for AFCON? Chukwueze is competing with Kalu, simon, Oyekuru and MusaEnugu II wrote:Chukwueze will make the AFCON team as a wide midfield player. while the strikers are Igahlo, Osihem & paul ouachu
Chukwueze may not make the team as those who played together and qualified the team will be hard to be dropped by Rohr.
Re: Chukwueze Finally Dumps Flying Eagles’ W/Cup For SE/AFCO
Agreed, nothing wrong if Chukwueze goes for the u20 because simon, oyekuru (leading scorer for club) have pretty much done well during the qualifiers and club, this is not a Fifa computer game so no guarantee that he will suit in our SE team all else their is some major injury to players i mentioned.theYemster wrote:I don't think Messi was faced with the same choice of deciding between two tourneys within the same period.osita wrote:He will not make SE, Messi and the other best played U20, he should have played for the U20s
Only injury will allow him in, thats my opinion
Re: Chukwueze Finally Dumps Flying Eagles’ W/Cup For SE/AFCO
Winning the Afcon is more important than the U20 world cup. Chukwuze has graduated to the senior team.
