We have secured a Grade A international friendly match for the Super Eagles against the Ukraine in Kiev, on the 10th of September,” Pinnick tweeted.

“It is part of our on-going drive to expose as many players as we can to global football, so this should be another springboard for our young stars.”

Nigeria moved up to 33rd place in July’s Fifa rankings having climbed 12 places from their 45th position in June, accruing 1481 points.

Gernot Rohr’s men begin their quest to qualify for the 2021 Afcon when they face Benin Republic on November 11 in a Group L fixture.

In the last year they have beaten Czech Republic (home and away), Serbia home and away (5-0 at home), Slovakia and Luxembourg.
Drew with Italy, Portugal and Turkey, all away.
Only loss was 1-4 to Slovakia (away) last year

Not a bad record.

Lets go get 'em.

Wow. That's a very good record there.

It would be a good test for us. Hopefully we will see some new players.

i think its time for NIgeria to start preparing for the world in 2022.

Africa is less of an issue and exposing the team to high grade friendlies against the best in the world in the next 2yrs might just be the tonic to get us to the Semis of the WC.

AFCON qualifier for me is enough preparation for the AFCON proper and ofcourse, we woudl play high profile african friendlies before the AFCON kicks off.

I want to see us play countries like Brazil, Spain, France, Belgium, Japan, Columbia etc

This should have been a good test for the new coach. Nigeria is just wasting her time with Rohr. Eventually he will have to be removed. Why can't the NFF do things proactively.
Winners do it the right way.

Hmm! Very impressive record, to say the least. Let's see, maybe we will surprise them, somehow. Winning will be good, but hopefully, our coach will try some new players or formation(s).

Seems you are stuck on repeat.

Is it safe to say this is for real? Anyone planning to be there?

How would this be a good test for a new coach? A new could not reasonably be held responsible for the result of his first match, especially if it goes awry.

Glad we doing friendly but to move up those rigged FIFA rankings.. . Nigeria has to engage friendlies with percieved grade "A" teams in Brazil, Germany, UK, Italia, France Spain etc etc !!
Isn't there Nigeria aspires to be... in order to really earn our lofty prefix .... "SUPER" next to "EAGLES" !!

Like you said how come he didn't start at AFCON, instead of the ineffective golden boot winner.
