He has kept them up. Kudos to him.

It is shame that the likes of Lampard, Gerrard are offered top flight jobs straightaway while Sol has to prove himself deep in the basement of the league.

Congratulations to Sol. The next challenge is keeping the team performing.

Yes I don't like him and I hope his players show him how it feels. Still congratulations to him for the achievement.

Vincent Kompany is to become the player-manager of Anderlecht after confirming his departure from Manchester City.

The City captain revealed he was leaving the club after 11 years on Sunday, a day after a 6-0 win over Watford in the FA Cup final saw them become the first English men's club to secure the domestic treble.

Kompany has now unveiled his plans for the future; he has signed a three-year deal with Belgian side Anderlecht, where he came through the ranks before joining Hamburg in 2006.

Hopefully not another Henry. Go well cerebro.

I feel like Kompany will be better than Henry, less ego and probably more understanding.

I have a sneaking suspicion Company will do well. Not because he is a better manager than other blacks but because the esteem he is held in Belgium. Players are likely to listen to him more and the board will likely support him

Slightly offtopic but Heskey's wife has talked about black managers not being given a shot.

First he made V+Craig Bellamy the youth team coach and now he has signed Samir Nasri.

Kompany is playing with fire. He is allowing his inexperience to take hold of him. Giving your friends job, especially the ones who are mentally unstable, is a big big big risk!

Craig Bellamy who lost his job as a youth coach because he was bullying kids and Nasri who was caught doping because he cheated on his girlfriend???

Yea, those two. Kompany think its important to have them around him.

Fantastic friend, he seems; but moronic "chief exec" he may turn out to be.

They played most of this game with a man advantage. The team also needs more experienced players, right now they have Nasri as captain because everyone else is young.

:rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: They probably have Nasri as captain because Kompany is his friend. Kompany also brought Bellamy, another of his friend, to be youth team chairman. Thats what happens when you think nepotism is the way forward. Imagine having Nasri as your captain. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

By the way, isnt Adrien Trebel their captain?

And Anderletch is the most powerful club in the country, excuses of "everyone else is young," is a bit laughable.

Macclesfield Town have parted company with manager Sol Campbell by mutual consent.

The 44-year-old has left the Silkmen after eight months in charge of the Sky Bet League Two club.

He guided them to EFL security on the final day of last season, losing just two of their last 10 games, after being seven points off safety when he took charge in November.

Plenty of teams in the upper divisions that would do well to hire him.
