Misjudged need for defensive recruitments. Peperempe overlooked the loss of King Vincente and overestimated Laporte’s invincibility. Still a two horse race, Leicester will fall off, Chelsea the same. Provided the Citizens are less than nine adrift by the turn of the year, they’re well within a shout.

Walker misses another Sitter. Been a bad day at the office for the Citizens. Left their scoring boots @ home.

You wish!

They are a solid team.

Always remember that today they did not have several key players...

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

Hilarious. If the pursuit of honours proves as Sisyphean as the adventures of Don Quixote, rest assured, the exodus will be as anticlimactic as the minute after 2359, December 31st 1999. City will simply go full Abdullah in main market. The game is gone.

Interesting wrinkle to the high press in this game.

How to use 3 players (Mane, Firmino, Salah) in an advanced position to control passing lanes to six opponents...

It also helps when the opponent has to disguise midfielders as center backs due to injury crisis. :thumb:

Not really a factor when you consider Fernandinho's quality playing out from the back, although they surely did miss Laporte.

The issue here is more the structure of the press rather than personnel. The effectiveness of the press is first and foremost about structure. they could do it successfully against Barca, and have done so successfully vs City in the past.

There was a tweak in the structure...

What this team did to Barca is shocking,Barca will never want to face Liverpool again with this current team.
To think Liverpool was the better team than Barca in Spain though they loss that game.
Liverpool need to overcome Manu, some how they freeze tactically which is a surprise
